Front Fork Modifications

I have blown a fork seal on my near new 2010 Goldwing/Lehman trike.
I was wondering if cornering on a trike puts additional twisting on the forks, causing pre-mature wear on the seals.

Also, I was wondering if anyone has experimented with fork braces on their trike, progressive springs, or different fork oil...

If the blown seal is on the left side make sure the anti dive is working properly and not sticking.

I can't speak to the brace question but I can't see significant premature wear for lack of the brace. I understand their theory but have not found the need to add one to my trike.

I totally rebuilt my forks when I converted nearly 6K ago. I also added progressive springs to pick the front end up a bit but it also resulted in a bit stiffer suspension. I used Amsoil synthetic fork oil. Don't know if it will make a difference but I like their products so that's what I use.

DITTO what flyer91 said. These GL1800 usually eat left seals first because of the anti dive circuit. When I rebuilt my forks I noticed the left fork oil was much darker and really worn out. All that being said, I thought HONDA had cured the sticking anti dive problem years ago...

I lost my left seal and my anti dive works just fine. In fact it started leaking after I put my fork brace on. Had both sides resealed now the bike acts a lot more solid. JMO
