Front brakes done.

Did my brake job last night.
Put on my $10.70 Ebay Kevlar front pads and they work just fine.
But the pads seem pretty darn thin. Are they normally thin pads for GL1800 when new??
I just barely could slide in the pads with the pistons fully pushed in and the caliper spread as much as I could with the caliper still on.
Im used to Yamaha front pads and they are at least 2x as thick.
Plus I left off, unintentionally the metal backing plate for the outer right side.
I did use the plate on the left front.
Im I going to hell for that??

I let you all know in a few weeks if these $11 pads are worth anything.

Jay if you had the pistons all the way in and just barely got the new pads in then I'd say what you have is all you will ever get. As I recall new ones are about 3/16 of an inch thick...

I use to use EBC pads but found that I could actually buy OEM from Partzilla.com for less and I think they have better stopping power. Now that I have the big brakes on the rear, I don't use the fronts near as much. I expect they will last a long time. :xszpv::xszpv:

I use the rears primarily too.
But its the front left being interconnected that wore out.
Right down to the metal and scored the disc a little.
The right side pads had a little life left in them yet.
I saw the OEM pads at the dealer. They too were on the thin side for what I was expecting.
They wanted about $100 for 2 pair.
The EBC they had were about $60.
Ive never liked HHs to grabby for me.
I prefer soft organic FFs which they don't make for the GL1800.
These Ebay brakes are Kevlar and soft. Quiet too but I did leave of the metal backing plate on the right side.
I guess checking the fronts will be done a lot more often by me from now on.
