I just happened to be out for a little ride today and stop at a fairly local Harley dealer, they noticed the Goldwing I was riding:blush:. A salesman started to chat me up when I heard I used to own a Triglide. He ask the year and I told him a 10, then I was ask if I had ridden a new one yet. Of course the answer is no, he proceeded to tell me how I would like the new Triglide because it has a 110 in it and my old 10 must have had the 96. The polite fellow I am I didn't start busting a gut. I proceeded to educate him on the history of the Triglide, for some reason he thought the 103 was an option and the 96 was standard with the 110 being offered now.

I honestly don't think he believed me, his loss. We always wonder how dealers come up with this crap, sad they don't even know about the product they sell. Some of the service dept's are even worse.

After recently riding a 1800 I don't see needing anymore power ,,may have pointed that out after his education ...ThumbUp

Believe it or not, The best salesperson is the one who Doesn't know the product, This way they can say anything with a straight face, They won't fool a knowledgeable customer, But they can fool a newbie customer.!
Most sales people will be selling bikes one day and the day be working at the local fruit stand selling Cumquat's.....

When I was shopping for a Tri a salesman told me the Tri had the upgrade BOOM audio speakers/amp. I told him it had the same radio/speaker the FLHTCU had.
Then I'm looking for where the valve is to adjust the rear shocks, he says I don't know, let me go ask. Comes back and tells me the Tri doesn't have rear air suspension. Now I may not have been able to put my hands on the valve, but I knew it had rear air suspension and a valve somewhere.

I love it when the customer knows more about the product than the salesman..reminds me when I go to best buy and all those kids have to get the expert to talk with me..

I just happened to make a comment pretty much like that, I told the kid my Wing was going to make a fine trike.

As a consumer it pays to know as much as you can about the product your buying. Poorly educated salesman give the good ones a black eye.

When I bought a Kawasaki at a Dealer that was new to me four years ago, the Salesman said "I can tell You're new to Motorcycles and probably looking for Your first one today"..."We're trained to spot New Riders and help Them choose the correct model"..."At Your age, You might consider the 125cc Single Cylinder Cruiser or the Kymco 250 Scooter, they both make a great starter bike"...:xzqxz:.....it's always great when You're dealing with "Knowledgeable Professionals".....;)

:AllGood:.....Did you get the 250 or did you have to settle on the 125 ......inquiring minds you know......:Wrong:

ThumbUp ThumbUp ....He didn't try to make you put training wheels on before you left ,,did he ? :10: :10:

Nah, suggested I might consider trailering it home, or Them delivering it to me instead of me riding it, since I lived 100+ miles from the Dealer..."Long Ride for a New Rider on a New Bike".....I let Him believe all this until about a month later, then brought Ride-n-Bike Pics.....

The look on his face had to be priceless.
