What effect does no pressure in forks of Goldwing 1500 have? How important is it to have pressure in the forks? 4.5 degree rake on 95' Wing w/Hannigan Conversion
Thanks, Hocky :Dorag:

Helps to keep the forks from compressing when coming to a stop, under hard braking.
Also good for suspension to have air in the forks.

Don't forget about changing the fork oil, periodically

Be very careful adding air. Do NOT use a compressor use a hand pump. About 4 or 5 lb is enough. I have none in mine. You could blue your seals if you add to much pressure

I had a 1500 and shortly after delivery my dealer recommended removing the air pressure system and installing gl 1200 fork springs which were stronger. It worked well. And no more carrying a pump and dealing with pressure changes caused by temperature fluctuation.

Another bike I had, the CB 900 custom also had air assist and the forks were plagued with "sticking"; they would not move smoothly through the normal movement. Changed it out to heavier springs and problem solved.

YMMV :)

i keep about 5-6 with stock springs, if u have the progressive springs many suggest no air . & yes small air pump, u can go as high as 10-12 but u don't notice a difference or i don't so i just stay around 5-6.
