Fla Keys

Well unless your on a Boat, everything looks like the rest of South Florida. But if you make it down to Key West, stop at Sloppy Joes, little history in that place.

The Keys are unlike anywhere in the country, IMOH. Once you get off the mainland it is like being in the Caribbean. The waters are beautiful and the style of living is very "laid back". I'm not sure why anyone would ride thru the Keys and not go to Key West. Crowded no doubt, but you got to see the beach at sunset every evening, 365 a year. It is a party every night.

A very diverse group of folks. Watch which bar you enter. 3 main types, Gay, Straight, and Mixed. You won't have a problem figured them out. Lots of traffic. Some of the other keys have neat homes, lots of boats, and a few places to eat.

If you get to Key West, watch out for the "cuban coffee".

A couple of ounces goes a long way.

Went with fellow bikers in spring of 2012 and 2015. Key West is the show place, but there is much to do and see in the rest of the Keys. You can eat outdoors and watch the sun set, take a glass bottom boat tour, go snorkeling and watch sun set from offshore, do some deep sea fishing and have restaurant turn catch into a meal, search for Key deer, ride pontoon boat through the mangroves, eat delicious seafood (especially conch fritters and Key lime pie), take ferry to Fort Jefferson, visit southernmost point of USA, walk the streets of Key West, drink beer and listen to music at Sloppy Joe's in Key West, watch sunset and entertainers at Mallory Square, Key West, etc. The list go on...

Few pics...

There must of been one afternoon in one of those 365 where it was over cast and rain when I was there and never seen the sun set......
Riding down is lot of "Old Florida", nothing to write home about.

One more tip:
Go to Key West during the week because it's a party Island.
We came back up in the a.m. on a Friday and the south bound traffic going
down headed for the party for the weekend was crazy............and watch your speed limit.

For me, once was enough.

If on your way to the keys or on your way home and you are taking 41 (Tamiami Trail), keep your eye out for the skunk ape. He is Floridas version of big foot. It's said he can be smelled before seen.
