Has anyone dealt with this?
I got the diagnosis last week after dealing with shaking hands for the past 4 months.

How has it effected your riding ability? It is sometimes hard to control the throttle.

I know of a few people that have it. They don't ride. Until you posed the question I never gave much thought to how it could/would affect riding.

I have a friend whos a retired mechanic who has it. His hands are so bad some days. Hes tried all the pharmaceuticals the DR. recommended but some of them the side effects were worse than the cure. Right now hes doing the cup of apple cider vinegar every morning and claims it really knocks the shakes down better than anything hes tried. He calls it an old fashioned Vermont remedy. I feel for you and hope you find something that wil work out for you.

Thinking out loud here. Wonder if you could change the hand throttle to a gas pedal like set up on the right side floorboard. Or if they make something already for someone that doesn't have their right hand or arm but still rides. I think I have a disabled accessories site bookmarked somewhere. I'll see if I can find it. That's the problem with bookmarks, I have a ton of them. Searching....

EDIT: Okay, here's the site I was thinking of.
But maybe a search for other disabled solutions for motorcyclist would turn up more.

i have suffered from this for 40 years, every year being a bit worse, i just refuse to quit riding. i used to set the throttle screw tension so that it would not roll back without help, then came cruise control but you can't use it all the time. the throttle and steering have really became an issue, especially the throttle.
so all the medicine and whatnot that i got from the VA never did much good, so last fall the VA [operation done at the mu hospital in columbia] did a dbs [deep brain stimulation]operation on me. you can look the procedure up on the internet and it explains it pretty well. i was smooth for 2 weeks until the infection set in, then they had to jerk it all out and put me on 2 weeks of antibiotics 2x's a day with the drip bag in my vein. so am going to try it again real soon. the major problem they have with this operation is with infection. i feel it's worth all the crap to be nerve free, cause usually i have to eat with a table spoon and hold my drinks with both hands. luckily the VA is paying for all of this as we couldn't afford it otherwise. i think the most unsettling part of the operation is when they drill the 2 holes in your head to stick the wires in as you are wide awake during the first phase of the process. if you are a vet check it out with the VA they have been doing this operation for lots of years good luck to you
