EFI

I've had previous conversations about a TTS and Dyno Jet tuners. I'm wanting to buy a high flow air cleaner simply because it looks cool. The forum has said a remapping would be needed so I called my HD dealer to see if they do remapping. Nope, have to buy a tuner. So to buy an air cleaner that costs around 289.00, I also have to buy a $400.00 tuner. This makes no sense to a penny pincher. Why wouldn't HD do remapping for a small fee?
What am I missing?

Harley can do a download to your exisiting ECM. I have had what they called a stage 1 download to two bikes when I installed the air cleaner. If I remember they changed somewhere around $100 for this download. Go to a different dealer.

PM Wizard to confirm what they can do. Wiz knows more about tuning one than the dealership does. I have also had simple flash-memory ECM upgrades, but it may depend on the model year....Wizard will know.

Changed mufflers and intake on our '09 and '11 trikes when we purchased them. Both were re-mapped (flashed, or upgraded, whatever they call it there). Both run great and we don't have a heating problem with either. Both got Harley intakes, the '09 got Rush slip-ons, the '11 got Reinhardt's. (the Rush were on back order and I didn't want to wait).

When my son put a full Vance and Hines setup on his '09 Street Glide he needed a tuner to make it run right. If your exhaust is stock, or you just put slip-ons, I'd get another dealer, and send a nasty letter to the MoCo!

Good Luck

Arlen Ness Big Sucker... better than the SEAC IMO... 129.00

TTS.... 380.00

HD Flash, if you can get a dealer to upgrade your ECM with one... 150 bucks

BUT... if the only mod you want is the air cleaner... no need to reflash. The ECM will adjust in about 3 tanks of gas or so.

IF... you do more than just slipon's or more than just an AC then you need to retune.

IF... you want a more efficient bike... buy a tuner such as the TTS. Doesn't matter if your bike is Stock, stock plus mods or other motor upgrades a tuner will do a lot for a motor and should be your first mod.
