Driveshafts

Welcome.:Trike1:

I just looked at all three of your posts, all dealing with drive shafts .... and no where do you intimate what year & model Gold Wing that your trike is built upon. Doing so would help.
Are all Honda goldwing driveshafts interchangeable? If not what years are?

No.

All GL1500s share.

2001-2005 GL1800s share.

2006 up GL1800s share.

The front knuckle (u-joint) is the same between the 1500 and pre 2001 thru 2005 front shaft

Please clearify. If you are saying these two drive shafts in the pictures are the same, then I'm afraid you are passing out misleading information. If I am wrong, I stand corrected.. In this case pictures do not lie. :cxtv: :cxtv:

2001 GL1800 swing arm assembly....

Don't know if it had anything to do with his thought .... but there is a picture I posted in http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threa...134#post352134 that shows U-joints and in that pic was a MODIFIED GL1800 U-joint ..... in that the shaft was cut off and a splined "cap" or "end" was welded in place. I found out that that modified one in my picture fit the 1500s output on the oem end, and the modified end fit the GL1500 drive shaft.

But yeah, a 1800 U-joint is not the same as any 1500 U-joint.

All I know is that when my motortrike front u-joint knuckle went bad (in fact I discussed it on this site) and here is the picture...

My trike dealer went right into his cabinet and pulled out a 1500 u-joint and put it right on and i drove away.
Does this part not match item number 1 in your first diagram.
If so then THIS is what was on my 1800 trike

OK. Now I see the confusion. What you had was one of the original Motor Trike drive shafts which was actually a modified GL1500 shaft. That is how your dealer was able to take an off the shelf front yoke and get you going. That same yoke would not fit on a true Motor Trike drive shaft.

The real issue was we are mixing bike and trike information which we all know quite often gets changed during conversion. The OP said "Are all Honda goldwing driveshafts interchangeable? If not what years are?" He did not ask what yokes or pieces and parts were interchangeable. CrystaPistol gave the OP exactly what he asked for.

True... he did not say trike shafts
