Took my 08 trike with CSC conversion in to my dealer. The driveshaft teeth are worn out at 24000+ miles. Dealer said he will try to get it replaced as a warranty issue. My question is if CSC won't replace it under warranty what kind of cost am I looking at? My trike was triked in Sept 2008 as a new 0 mile motorcycle by this dealer so maybe he can get me a replacement under warranty

I triked my bike back in 2010. I have 30,000 miles on it now. Just 3 weeks ago the driveshaft decided to go out. One Call to CSC and it was done. I found one of their dealers and made an appointment, I had it back in 4 days. Did not cost me a dime. A follow up letter of appreciation followed to CSC and the dealership.

I have a 03 wing which I brought in 06 and had it converted. Coming back from Alaska in August this year in the western part of PA the drive shaft broke. With 60620 miles on the conversion It seems the universal joint on the differential end froze up, no grease and it snapped off at the U joint. Falling on the road The front half turning around banging on the swing arm hit the brake cable and broke it. The Honda dealer In Roanoke, VA, Star City Powersports charged me;

Brake fluid 4.99
Drive shaft assy 799.99
brake line 64..00
3 zip ties 1.17
total $870.15

Labor $69.00 per hour

estimated damage and repair $ 69.00
Drive shaft 69.00
Brake line 207.00
Total 345.00

Grand total with tax $1,279.40

My question Is this a fair price?? There seem to be a little confusion at Star City. I ordered heated grips to be put on while it was in the shop which didn't happen. I was told they are on back order but when I called the parts counter there were 70 pair in the warehouse...then I was told the word back order shouldn't of been used..So what was it?? I Called the shop at 11:40 and was told the trike was 1/2 way being repaired and that it would be done at 3:30. When we arrived at 4:00 I peeked it into the shop area the trike was sitting on jacks with the tires off and no one working on it. I was told it would be another 1 1/2 hours which turned in to 2 hours......:gah: So I called at 11:40 and it was 1/2 way what happen they must of pulled the mechanic off the job I would say....it turned into one counter person blaming the other....a bunch of BS

My installer indicated to me that for conversions after 2010 this issue was not a problem. Apparently they redesigned the drive shaft assembly.

Do the upgrade from CSC. It gets rid of the splined two piece driveshaft and the intermediate gear box. Cost for all parts for the ABS model is under $500. The labor at a dealer was another $800.

When you break down on the road 300 miles from home, you have to do something.

The driveshaft used in the conversion done in 06 was different than the driveshafts used June 07 forward.

My tech told me yesterday that he ordered one from CSC this past week and it cost $140.00 plus shipping. It sounds like the customer should have gone to a CSC installer and had it done for free.

I agree. Call Stan or Nancy at Mountain Trikes. They have replacement driveshafts for sale and have a CV joint coupler that replaces the rubber coupler that makes the driveline smooth. Have had mine on for 13,000 miles and wouldn't leave home without it. Nancy told me they have takeoff driveshafts for a great price. Give them a call I know you'll like dealing with them.
