My riding buddy and I are heading to the tail of the dragon Sat. 17Th. Last time I was there we rode it on a 1500 wing this time on the 1800 trike. Will send videos after we get back. Anyone out here close by we will be staying at the super 8 west. Monday, Tuesday, Wed. Then heading for Maggie valley Thursday then Riding north on the Parkway for about 200 miles then starting back home Friday. I' am going to make 14 "TOUR OF HONOR" check points on this trip. Wish us luck!!!!

Monday thru Wednesday looks like a great weather forecast here. Monday a bit chilly in the morning. Super 8 west? Is that the one in Pigeon Forge?

Enjoy hope weather is good for you...It can get chilly and wet, I know!!! Yes in May!!
Will be in Little Switzerland,N.C. June after Outer Banks. P.S. Watch speed on Dragon, a lot radar/laser going on.

We will be there june 15th for several days. We are staying at the Holiday motel in Maggie Valley. The plan is to ride the dragon and the skyway and any other roads that we can get in. then we will ride the BRP north on the way home.

There is a ton of roads in that area that are as good as the dragon with less traffic.

That super 8 is west of Knoxville (on the west side). Mtn man might join us and show us some good riding roads. He lives in Pigeon forge

Holiday Motel is fun, owners very nice. They can point you in the right direction for riding roads. Good food at diner next to Motel..

Just got back from a 5 day ride based out of Little Switzerland Inn. Great weather and had a fantastic time. 10th trip on the Parkway! While there be sure to ride NC 80 (aka: Devil's Whip) As good as the Dragon and much less crowded. Ride safe and enjoy! Regards, Ace

Having ridden "The Dragon" since 1971 on Motorcycles (Long before it was called anything except a bad road), I guess I'm a little "jaded"....it's a far cry from the Best or Most Fun Ride up in that Area.....I point Folks all the time to much better with less traffic, better scenery, etc., but "Most" still continue to re-ride it. It's not the twistiest, it's not the longest, it's not the best asphalt (this has gotten better the last few years), etc. I guess my 100+ Trips through there, and dozen or so near miss collisions with Motorcycles and Sports Cars in my Lane have made me look elsewhere for Great, Better Rides while in the Smokies Area....There are Better Ones, some Much, Much Better.....ThumbUp

Shuuter, like you I rode hwy 129 in 1970 with my Dad and a friend of ours from Maryville. My Dad had a Harley Road King and I rode an old Harley Duo-Glide. Yeah this was long before someone decided to call it the Dragon. My memories of bike trips with my Dad will last forever, he's been gone since 1989 but we rode that area several times. He and I rode to Sturgis the first time in 1972 and there might have been 500 people there, far cry from today. I miss those rides with Dad but I remember the good times we had even when one of us was broke down on the side of the road. Memory lane!

Yep, I understand....Memories are Great Things...ThumbUp....my Buddy, Darryl (Killboy), is pretty much single-handedly responsible for that stretch of 129 becoming "The Dragon"...He has built a Very Lucrative Business out of the naming of it, photographing Vehicles running the curves, and selling the Owners the photographs....smart move, but it sure compounded the aggravation and danger of riding through there on beautiful weekends.....;)ThumbUp
