I will be making a trip from Texas to Colorado this summer and I would like to take my 20# dog with me on the GW/MotorTrike. I have seen a pet carrier on line for about $600, but that is way to expensive for me. Has anyone seen a carrier that is more reasonable?
We had a good laugh last weekend at Home Depot. A guy on a trike had a little platform behind him that had a little terrier on it! It had a harness that kept it from flying off. Did not check the platform too close. Have also seen doggie trailers.

Saw a guy in Santa Fe NM a couple of years ago who had two small dogs riding on his gas tank. Had little goggles and helmets for both of them. He said they love to ride - all he has to do is start walking toward the bike and they come running. Well, they might have weighed 12 lbs. total added together, so maybe this isn't relevant to your situation.
Somebody makes one that fastens to the rack on the trunk, if you have that. Don't remember the cost but it was way less than $600. Had good reviews, one from a guy who said he was in an accident, banged him up, banged up his girlfriend (passenger) but the dog came out of it without a scratch. A Google search should find it.

Yep, a buddy 'o mine hauls around his Schnauzer in a "T" bag with a hole cut out just large enough for it's head to stick through. He also gave it a helmet, and goggles, but I think that was just for looks.

In the 80's we would run across a gentleman at the New Mexico and Texas rallies who had 2 small Schnauzers that rode draped across the gas tank of his Gold Wing. I always hoped he never had to make any sudden moves while underway that would upset their position. As to putting a dog in a trailer being pulled behind the bike I would think that the exhaust might be harmful to the dog..not to mention if the bike had loud pipes... a dog's hearing is so much more sensitive than ours.
We used to put a harness on our little dogs, tie the leash end around our waist and set the dog in a magnetic tank bag in front of us - one on each bike. We only took them down the road or around the airport at a slow pace but they enjoyed it.
