I was just told that I could not rent a mobile home in a 55+ park because I had a "loud motorcycle"
I have a stock 1600 VW trike and it is NOT loud.
You can stand next to my trike and hold a conversation at a normal volume.
The rub us that there are other motorcycles in the park and that there are diesel trucks in there, that are VERY loud--but yet all of these are allowed.

Anybody ever run into anything like this?

Any advice?

Thanks!

yes- those mobile home parks have a strict set of rules they play by! I would say under normal pretenses, that you should go demonstrate to the manager what you are talking about- but the best advise here is to find another place. The reason I say this is based on my son who owns a mobile home-it took 3 parks to get one that would allow his HD, and dog (his dog looks like a pitbull, but is not). Good luck!

I have run across some camp grounds that will not let Motor cycles in, The Great Outdoors is one of them. At Sand Destin they also ban motor cycles.
Only thing I can suggest is to look for another park, and be up front and honest with them asnu have been
Best of luck.

As others have suggested, I'd look elsewhere. Even if the landlord accepts your VW, there's no telling what else might upset him/her.

Each mobile home park can set it's own rules, some are strict, some might not be strict enough, all depends on what you're looking for.

One landlord told me up front that there were 3 main rules that he insisted on:

1) No loud music
2) No drugs
3) He didn't want "20 Harleys with straight pipes rolling in to visit me"

The place was "o.k.", he never complained about me wrenching on bikes, etc. and I minded my P's 'n Q's. After a bunch of years staying there, he confided in me that a next door neighbor friend of his (not even a tenant at the park) had informed him of another couple living in the park that had had an argument. Essentially, the next door neighbor was NOSEY and the landlord was fine with him "reporting" to him. As a matter of principle, since it didn't involve me at all, I thought his little "spy" arrangement was inappropriate and I moved out.

I know of some towns that have strict noise limit ordances and strictly en force them I know of one town that has a decimel ordance and your exhaust noise level cn not be louder the stock muffler noise.
I watched them one time when a bunch of harleys come through town and more then have of them got tickets,250 dollar fine, have also seen them give semis tickets for loud exhaust and useing their jake brake and they have big signs up on all the main highway in town warning drivers about the ordance and fine.
They make a lot of money off that ordance.

I know that they can make their own rules---BUT---how can they allow OTHER bikes in the park and those LOUD diesel trucks?!?!?

How can they do it ? The landlords are hypocrites, that's how  They might even be practicing discrimination (depends on the laws in your state) but is it worth pursuing ? (Probably not, IMHO)

I knew another park that had a "No dogs" rule. There was only one dog owner in that park and guess who that was ? The friggin' landlord!

There's Landlord/Tenant Agreements that probably vary by state. There's good landlords and bad landlords. Some landlords mistakenly assume that just because they own the property, that they can basically do whatever they want, but in many cases that simply isn't true. Tenants have more rights than they might realize. But except for extreme cases, it's often better to just blow off any abuses by landlords and move on.

Your cash is just as green renting somewhere's else. Maybe look for a rental house that has a responsible landlord that'll fix things when needed and leave you alone the rest of the time. In that case, I'd also suggest avoiding at all costs any neighborhoods that have a Homeowners Association. Those places tend to be full of nit-picking busy bodies that can make living there a nightmare.
