I just picked up a digital gear indicator...I purchased a chrome mount for my revrese switch and figure id match the other side up wih the chrome gear indicator setup along with a kuryakyn chrome controls cover kit...
has any one installed a gear indicator?
its states to plug into the data plug, so i bought a dual splitter to go in the data plug so i could still access the data plug with out disconnecting the gear indicator..Im close to trying my TTS mastertune, so Im hoping the slpitter will work for both applications without disconnects etc...
AM I headed correct direction doing this?
Thx in advance!

I wouldn't have anything else plugged into the data line when flashing maps or tuning with the TTS, you run the risk of corrupting data. Once your done tuning then have at it.

I have one on my Wing and love it! It also plugs right into the harness (under all of the tupperware, lol) so I don't have any Y connector installed with it. As far as I'm concerned, this should be standard equipment!

Mike...Thx ..i hear ya..Im surprised it goes into the data connector and not the acc connector,,,It says connector # 91 under left side cover tho, so isnt that the data link?
It also sujests buying the splitter...I need to look at my manual, but the acc connecotr is switched power, so I guess thats why they use the data connector??..I could see it interfering with the TTS tho as you state...Im gonna investigate...Thx..Hb

Mine is built into my new Medalion gauges I just installed. Harley sells one, dakota digital also have a gear indicator. and no more air temp gauge its now a oil temp gauge..

My seat of the pants gear indicator tells me what gear I'm in as well as does the amount of deceleration from the engine. The other option we have came built in on the bike: Your speedo and tach give a real good indication what gear your in if ya practice with 'em a little.
