I've been trying to narrow down the trike conversion choices for a GW 1800. I've pretty much settled on an IWS design, of which there are many fine choices available. I believe any of these models would satisfy me and my wife in terms of ride quality and smoothness; Ford vs. Chevy and all that.
My question involves the Hannigan conversion design that uses a straight line driveshaft into an offset differential on the trike. The Hannigan uses two different length CV axles, while other manufacturers place the differential on the longitudinal centerline of the bike.
Are there any pros and cons to these design differences, ie; handling, reliability, safety, smoothness, etc?
Two good friends of mine really like their Hannigan GW 1800's and have logged over 150K miles on them (combined) with no issues.
I'm just smart enough to be able to identify differences in various designs, but not knowledgeable enough to be able to evaluate the pros and cons of such things.
My new trike will (most likely) be the last motorcycle I'll own, so I'd like to feel comfortable with my choice, as these things are the price of a new car or pick up truck, though much more stimulating!
Thanks, in advance, for your replies!!
