Here is a picture of the tow bar my son made me in his shop. The straight stock one was too low, so he used a piece of solid bar stock and bent it in a 150 ton press, shaved then drilled a hole for the ball and done! It has a 10 inch "step" including the ball, so now the trailer tongue is level. Definitely the strongest piece on the whole trike! It works great. If you are interested, I'm sure he would do another one.
