Lost an inside brake pad on one side from the sound of things. We're leaving Colorado Springs this morning, going north on 24 to 70. Planning to stop in Salina this afternoon. If anyone knows where I might find a dealer with parts, please PM me. I will need one set of standard brake pads for a 2012 GL 1800 Viper conversion.
Thanks in advance.

They are auto brake pads. Call CSC and ask them what you need to buy. Lots of auto parts stores around any town. Or take one to the store with you. they can match 'em up. Champion uses VW. Some others use Ford.

Kwputt, I have a used set about half left on them. I could overnight them to you. It will have to be Monday as I am leaving Tuesday for ILL.call me if I can help.

Cavie I talked to my dealer last night. He told me the 2012 Viper is CSC only for pads. I will call CSC to confirm though, thanks.
Phil thanks for the offer. We're going to divert to a honda shop north of St Louis tomorrow if they have the parts. They do a lot of CSC conversions. Won't know till morning.
Thanks again for responding.

Kwputt, I will be in Mount Vernon ILL on Thursday morning. I will bring the pads with me. I could be in St. Louis MO by lunch.

I got the proprietary BS from Champion when I emailed them about my VTX. I found out thru research that they are D101 VW 76/77 Karmen Giea

Last year for the VW Karmann Ghia was 1974. I know,I owned one. :)

Those are some old calipers.

CSC brake pads

I don't believe you'll be able to get those particular pads from anywhere except CSC 15$ a pad if you can find those particular pads anywhere else I would sure like to know. Tks. Bruce

Talked to CSC this morning and they are made by a company specifically for CSC. No off the shelf pads will fit, per CSC parts dept.
Phil, I found a dealer in Illinois that had the pads and could work me in if we got there by three o'clock. As luck would have it, two construction areas and one wreck nixed that. Then a line of severe weather popped up between us. Since I've already toasted the rotors, we parked for the night 300 from home. We'll ease on home cautiously tomorrow. I do appreciate your offer.

Phil,
Thought I should follow up and let you know we made it home safely. Put the trike on the lift and confirmed what I thought. The left side inner pads came apart when I locked it down to avoid the deer. The CSC ABS braking system worked as advertised. Fully loaded trike & trailer headed down a steep grade, slowed from 70 mph to almost stopped without sliding. Ordered new pads and rotors last night, should have the parts on Friday.
Thanks again for your generous offer.

Kaput, you're welcome. I am two hundred miles from Mount Vernon ILL with your used pads.Hope to see you in Maggie Valley this September.
Phil

I had one side pads come apart on the first set of my CSC conversion after about 4,000 miles. Had to replace everything on that side. I go through both side pads at about every 5,000 miles (no, I don't ride the brake). I dearly love my CSC conversion, but having to buy CSC pads each time is costing a fortune when I have to do a brake job every time I do an oil change! Are there any options out there for pad replacements other than the CSC pads? I've got an old set of CSC pads from the last change, can they be "refurbished" or rebuilt with better material?

Hello OJ,
That sure doesn't sound normal. Makes me wonder if you have a master cylinder issue or that your model maybe one of the CSC conversions that needs the extra springs on the pads to hold them away from the rotor. I assume that you've already spoken to the folks at CSC about this problem.
My right side pads are still within tolerance at almost 25K. Probably 15K of those miles we've had a fully loaded trailer in tow.

I have talked to my trike builder, Mitchell Motorsports, and they talked to CSC about my short life of brake pads. CSC told them that I must be "riding the brakes". NO, I do not ride the brakes and pay special attention to that, because I want better gas mileage, so don't want to cause more drag than I already have. What I wouldn't give for "at least 15K" on my brakes, and 25K, I would be ecstatic! I have sent CSC a note about my problem personally and waiting for a reply. I haven't heard about any "brake spring" problems from CSC.

I changed the rear brake pads on my 2012 csc at about 40,000 miles with about half the pads left on the original pads.
Phil

When I had my CSC converted in 07, I probably would have gotten 50,000 miles on a set of pads.
Upgraded to the XL with improved brakes in 2013 and the inner front pads(rear brakes) were gone
at 7500 miles(Black pads) ---lots of brake dust. CSC sent me a ROTOR and Yellow pads. These would last
about 15,000 miles. CSC is now using a Red pad that is supposed to last longer.

The pads are $7.50 and I need 8 of them. With the linked brakes, the front pads(on rear caliper) wear out faster.

Black pad --- EBC F8175 MX-GG 4417_K

Red pad ----- BRK-42104 PE 2714
