2006 GW Motor Trike destroyed. Suing the ever love'n b'jesus out of the bloody ignorant braindead cager who caused this so I'll not say much right now. I had to be care flighted off the scene. One stop to sew up some injuries and stop some bleeding before being sent on to another hospital in another city for three days. Plastic surgery consult Tuesday to start getting my face reattached to the skull and begin dental work. Now, just need to know about the trike, but I'm pretty sure it's done for if the pictures the kids took tell all of the story. Wasn't wearing a helmet and the kind I have would not have prevented the injuries in any case. You can bet I'm getting a modular full face next and one of the son's will beat my head in for me if he catches me not wearing it again.

wow... first up.. great youve come through this alive. Hope the rest of it works out for you. some people just shouldnt be on the road.
best wishes to you and yours

WOW !!!! I'm glad you are OK (as OK as you are anyway) Gary!!!! Sorry to hear about the wreck. Hopefully everything will work out but it's not gonna be fun that's for sure. Keep us posted please... :xszpv::xszpv:

Sorry to hear about the accident, and you are correct, to many cagers out there not responsible enough to have a license. They think nothing can happen to them while they are driving, but never think about the other people who get hurt because of their stupitity.

Wishing a Quick & Complete recovery for you ThumbUp

Sorry to hear what happened, glad to hear you are recovering and hope your back on 3 very soon.
A small suggestion, if there will be lawyers involved, be very careful what you put in writing, lawyers have a sick way of twisting the truth. The lawyers pay rats to track what you say & do.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Thank God you're still with us and able to post this thread! Here's wishing for a quick and permanent recovery!

The guy we hired is a rider also and specializes in personal injury to motorcycle riders. The cagers insurance company has contacted me and I could hear the 'Oh no! Not him" groan on the other end of the line when I told him to contact my guy. Seems they've had to deal with him before.

Already looking for the next trike - have two in mind at the moment that we want to take a look at.

So sorry to hear of the accident and we hope you mend quickly.

Mon-Fri I drive 240 mi a day in a large commercial vehicle - you wouldn't believe what I see "drivers" doing all the time. It's a wonder there aren't even more accidents.

Regardless, be well - heal quickly. Let us know how your doing. ThumbUp

Oh yea! Drove a repair truck 14,000 miles a year. One that sticks best is the woman driving a truck pulling a cigarette boat 30 feet long. She passed me at 70 mph and pulled right back in. The prop of the tilted motors went over my hood. 2 feet from the windshield. And she thought nothing of it.

good luck with your recovery and that other thing. I have not so fond memories of the same type stuff. some times sh-- happens and there just is nothing you can do to stop it. I still get the willies when passed on the right while going down the road. (hit from behind on the right corner at a stop light) wounds heal but the mind remembers longer. get back out there a.s.a.p.

GLAD to hear that your some what OK ThumbUp. But SERIOUSLY isn't there a better way to get a NEW Trike :D If you can find a 2014 HD Trike. They are really making good dealers on them now. Because the 2015 are coming out in a few weeks. Glad someone was watching over you. GET better soon. ThumbUp

Many prayers for your recovery and thanksgiving that you are alive and healing! Having been through something similar just a year ago, I feel for you!

Was just down in the DFW area for three weeks. Wish I could have connected with you. Maybe next time! Prayers from East China Mi.

Super glad You survived this, and also really glad You'll be wearing a Helmet in the future......!!!!!ThumbUp

Either that or die grotesquely at the hands on one of my sons. Full face modular to be purchased next, the open face I have now would not have protected my face one darned bit, and may have made the problem worse. As it was I think my plastic sunglasses broke and sliced my eyelid and nose open.

This next round of facial repairs is going to HURT!!!!! I heal quickly and the pastic surgeon is dragging his feet. Will most likely have to re-break some facial and nose bones to restore me to my former rugged beauty.

Operative word there was "RUGGED" - Correct????? :D:D

Glad to see your humor didn't suffer Gary!

UGH, sounds painful.....:(...Yep, full facial coverage is definitely the way to go. I've gotten a little lax around here locally lately, wearing my flip down hard shield 3/4 Helmet...I still generally wear my Full Coverage Helmet on Trips.....need to start wearing it again daily.....ThumbUp

Update for those interested:

Facial surgery last Thursday. Lots of pain for two days, but has eased up mainly due to some fairly frequent, darn good pain meds and a loving, caring, hovering wife. Tried doing without yesterday only to have the pain come back like I'd face planted into a farm tractor.....sorry, couldn't help it. Dental work starts in three weeks.

Texas Highway Patrol laid the blame on the tractor driver saying he simply pulled off the shoulder of the road from a dead stop without warning and blocked all lanes.

Insurance company has made a settlement offer on the trike which I can't complain about - more than I paid for it four years ago. Going tomorrow to check on bidding when it comes up for auction - some good items there to get if the price isn't too high.

Downside: wife isn't keen on replacing the trike - going to have to work on that one. Still going to try and make Kerrville and some of you are going to have to help me with that one if I can't change her mind before then. Still, there's the Can Am and the Harley.

Next downside: don't feel competent to carry my concealed weapon until my eyesight is 100% again. Feel kinda naked (not a pretty sight I can assure you).

Another downside: totally liquid diet for at least eleven more weeks. Might be OK if some Canadian was thrown in there now and then, but that is definitely taboo at the moment.

My wife owned a sporty red Colt a few years ago. She was t-boned by a young driver who wasn't paying any attention and swore she would NEVER own a small car again. She has owned some of the biggest boats on the planet ever since since she wasn't comfortable in a small econo-box. In 2012, she finally convinced herself to downsize due to gas prices and traded her 2006 Ford Crown Vic for a Mazda 6. Being a cheap skate that I am, I talked her into a standard shift (to save $1000) and she owned the car about 3 months before declaring she hated it. We drove up to the big Ford dealer on IH35 and bought a 2011 (last year made) low-mile Crown Vic. Women display good sense regarding vehicle safety and after your crash, she saw what could happen. It will take awhile for her to get over it so when you get a new trike, go on some back road easy rides before getting too frisky. That is about the only advice I could offer. My wife feels totally safe on the trike but I doubt I could talk her into riding in a "Smart Car".
