Cruise Control

I just purchased my first 2006 Goldwing trike with a Champion kit installed. The dealership is 4 1/2 hours from my home. After checking it out and getting on the road, I tried setting the cruise control. The light does come on the dash for cruise control, but when I set the speed, nothing happens, no light on dash and no cruise. I did check the fuse and it is ok. Any suggestions on the problem? I really don't care to drive to the dealership if its a problem I can get fixed on my own. Thanks and just joined the Triketalk network today. Bob

Bob,
Check the small micro switches behind the clutch and brake levers. Most common problem these switches get dirty and "stick" in and won't allow cruise to set.I clean with a little WD-40 and old tooth brush. You can work them in and out with your finger while depressing levers.
Hope this helps.

Hi Bob, my cruise control will only work if I am in top gear (O/D) AND doing over 80kph (50mph). If I am under that speed or not in top gear I will see the cruise indicator but it won't engage.<br />

That was one item the bloke I bought it from was at pains to point out...he said it's not faulty, it's just the way it works on my '96 GL1500.

I think mine is set for over 35MPH & under 90 MPH. There is a fix for that, if you want to cruise over 100 MPH...not sure about the top gear. The switches in the brake pedal, brake lever and clutch lever must be working properly also.
