Does anyone else unable to charge their devices using the Cigarette lighter on the TG. Mine is a 2012 and when I complained to the Dealer they replied it isn't meant for that for charging. Unacceptable to me.

When the TG is turned off, the cig lighter turns off. I dont think you would want to cgarge anything off your TG electrical system. Not made for that. I keep my GPS plugged into it all the time, but it has it's own battery if I turn off the Trike. The cig lighter does keep the GPS battery charged while the motor is running.

My previous Andriod phone had terrible battery life, it spent thousands of miles plugged into the lighter socket maintaining its charge on the 2010 Triglide I had. Like Trent said, it will not provide power when the ignition is off. IMO, your dealer is full of crap.

I keep my GPS plugged in all the time to the cigar lighter. I have not had any problems either. It does turn off when the ignition is turned off.

As mechanically challenged as I am, I do know that the TG has to be on :). Have to try my independent. Only went to dealer since I've only had it since August. Thanks for all the replies ~ haven't given up on it~~!!!

TG doesn't "have" to be running, but ignition turned on and in "start" mode, not "aux" mode....ask me how I know cause can't light a smoke!

Check fuses....

Just to add to my earlier post,
With the engine off (not running) The lighter plug is hot with the ignition on and also in the access position. (11T/G)

AZ.....this was comments from another forum you posted on.

What we have found though is that from the factory more than a few have come with the polarity reversed on the cigaret plug receptacle. The lighter does not care which way the current runs, but the GPS and Phone charger sure do! The center is the positive and the outside is the negative or ground. If yours is one that is backward it is easy to fix as the wires just plug on the back with spade terminals and you just simply swap the red wire to the center and the black to the outer housing. Just a few min to remove the 7 screws to take off the outer faring
.

the stock lighter socket is not made for continous use .it can fail ,fry or blow fuse, install the heavier power point from harley in the same location.it will work well.

It may not be good for continous use as a lighter or possibly heated gear but low draw items such a phone or gps it could be used for days .

:Agree: The wiring to the lighter plug is heavier gauge than what cell phone chargers or GPS power cords use, low draw won't hurt a thing. I've got hours upon hours charging my cell phone while traveling.
