bulb keeps blowing

One of the bulbs in the amber running lights that are mounted in thhe front of the aqua shields keeps blowing every few days.

I understand that a short would cause a fuse to blow but what causes bulbs to blow this often.

2008 gl1800 with Chamipon kit.

If it's the same lamp burning out every time I would check to make sure the socket isn't loose and vibrating/jarring the filament when riding over bumps etc. If it was a voltage problem such as too high regulator output I would think more than one lamp would burn out and other symptoms would be evident.

It may sound odd, but check the sockets in all the lamps in that circuit. If one/more bulbs do not have a good ground, it/they use another bulb in the circuit for a ground - that puts more load on that other bulb. In other words the load is put on the weakest link. generally speaking.

Agreed.......vibration/loose socket or vibration causing a loose socket.

Loner makes a very good point on a bad ground wire somewhere in the same circuit. Running lights, blinkers, marker lights tend to have their own ground wire for each individual bulb. A bad ground from any light in the circuit could cause a problem in a seemingly unrelated bulb........it's called "electrickery" :giggle:

Had a flickering tail-light bulb in an aftermarket tail-light. Found that a cheap plastic brace inside the housing had broken due to vibration, which was allowing the socket to move. I took some styrofoam and cut pieces to shape, then surrounded the socket like puzzle pieces. Bulb still illuminated the lens just fine and no more flickering tail-light bulb.
