I had been planning on waiting until spring to start looking at replacing my totalled out trike. It's still going to be some time before I can actually ride again anyway. But I began to worry after the tragic events in the southeast with the terrible flooding that there were going to be a lot of flood damaged motorcycles hitting the market in the coming months. That's usually what happens after something like that.

On a whim, I began browsing Cycle Trader. I had originally started looking at trikes but was dead set on replacing it with another another CSC. There wasn't a lot of choices to choose from. So for kicks I then searched bikes and figured if I found one at the right price, I would just have the conversion done. I stumbled on a 1 owner white 2012 GL1800 bike that only had about 22,000 miles for a really good price. It has all the bells and whistles (comfort, audio, navi, abs) except the air bag just like my totalled out 2007 GL1800 trike had. It is also not crazily farkled out, mostly stock. It has a few accessories but ones I would have added myself anyway. I worked out the deal after several phone calls with the owner and wired him the payment this past Fri.

And wouldn't you know, this bike is located just outside of Dallas. And how convenient, there just happens to be an excellent CSC trike installer just right down I-45 from there in Conroe! I have already been discussing this with Papa Zook and he's more than happy to have my business. And he also has a transporter in mind to get the bike transported down to his place and I will cover the cost. What's even better is that his shop has been very busy but because of my current situation (still recovering), he doesn't need to rush this and can take his time. So it's a win-win. I'm pretty excited about this.

It actually ends up being a bit more beneficial over buying a used trike because I now will get the full factory CSC warranty right from the start. So sometime early next year, I will be flying down to Houston and driving my new to me trike back home...

The timing was right, you got a really nice one owner bike, super low miles, and the color you wanted. And it was what, one of 5 or 6 bikes in his garage? No doubt he is an enthusiast and kept it serviced and like new. I meant to screen cap the listing pictures, thought I had but not seeing them.

I did save all the photos except for that one unfortunately. And he is definitely a motorcycle enthusiast. That was one of the reasons for the low miles as he would cycle through all the different ones he had. He mentioned that he has done some touring on it. He had even gone all the way out to California on it and went up and down the PCH.

Congrats on finding a clean great looking bike and it is the best color also!
Keep us informed on the triking process also.

One nice thing is that I've been a Goldwing guy now since 1999. I had a GL1500 for many years before upgrading to my 07 1800. I learned quite a bit over the years. Then a couple years later after getting my 07, I had the conversion done to it. It was my first experience with trikes and I knew nothing. The installer I chose did a decent job but I didn't know what was normal and what wasn't. I had that 07 CSC conversion for over 8 years until I didn't anymore 😩. I was able to hang out in the shop during the first conversion and see quite a bit of it done which was pretty cool. I now have a really good feel and picked up a lot more knowledge over the years. If I hadn't chose Papa Zook, I think the only other choice I would have considered would have probably been the CSC factory. I am very comfortable both with the bike I found and the installer I am using. A big bonus though is that Papa Zook's shop is the closest to the bike now.

Is CSC doing the paint work Or Randy ?

That's a really good question and I'm not sure. I know when my last one was done, they got the kit with just primer and had a local shop do the painting.

It was a bit of a struggle for them matching the orange color. I was told that orange along with red are 2 of the hardest ones to paint match.

I don't think there's much fading, a bike is not like a car that most are parked outside all their life & run through car washes, But pearl white just plain sucks to match, I'm sure they have painted enough to have a good formula to match it.

We can do whatever the customer wants. The Goldwings always get CSC factory color match paint. They do a really nice job at a good price. We also can do Harley CVO trike and bike color and graphics match as well as complete full custom show quality graphics and paint for bikes and trikes based on what the customer wants....like below.

Very impressive but I don't think I really want to go that extreme. I'm not planning on having a show piece but rather something nice and more practical. I would be too worried about getting it ruined.
