I can't find a regular H-D back rest, only the remote adjustable one. Does anyone make just a plain back rest? I have a 2012 TG with the H-D Road Zepplin seat if that makes any difference.

Gary, when I was looking at backrests, the parts guys told me the only one that would fit the TG properly was the remote adjustable one. I dunno if that is true or not based on all of us's past experience with that statement. It was way more $$ but I am glad I got it. It does help on long trips to be able to move it to a different position easily while headin' down the road. I have a Mustang seat and it fits that perfectly.

I have heard of some making there fixed version backrests fit on the trikes by reaming the mounting hole where it mounts to the frame..

I saw the price on the adjustable. That's why I don't want it. I just want a simple back rest for local rides. I use my Saddlemens Back Seat Bag (best luggage ever made for a dresser - BR4100 Back Seat Bag) as a back rest on my long vacation trips.
Besides I don't have anywhere to mount the remote switch. Normal location is by the left engine heat guard.

Any of the HD backrests will fit a Tri-Glide! Don't listen to the parts dept....they want to sell you the high-priced one.The regular backrest will fit...service put mine on #52530-09A (see page 353 of the parts book). You have 9 back rests to select from. Sometimes we have to wear hip boots and carry a shovel when visiting the dealership! :AGGHH::censored:

Hey Barb...May need a snorkel too!!!

lol....got that right. Don't you just cringe when we hear "won't fit a Tri-Glide"....add that to the list of bs we seem to get! I've found if a part fits an Ultra Classic, most likely will fit a TG...duh?

Stupid me, I actually listened to what they said about the backrest not fitting the trike, so wound up getting the adjustable one for waaaaaay more money. I really didn't want it because once I got my backrest set, I never needed or wanted to change it. Now I have a gizmo that will change the position, but haven't touched it except after I put on the 2" pull back bars. Tilted the backrest back a bit and now I won't move it again. Oh well, live and learn.

Its true. You can use other mounts.
I had the fixed backrest on my '07 RK and bought the adj. one for wifes '10 TG. Well like Barbra she never adjusted it, always left it in one place. Soo , I wanted the adj. option on my RK and decided to see if they would swap out. The mount holes looked the same to me or at least really close.
Sure enough they fit either bike and she didnt know I swaped them til I told her.
I do use the adj. quite a bit.

I have the adjustable back rest and like it. HD told me when I traded my Ultra in on my trike that my backrest would not fit my trike and I would have to purchase a new bracket. I did not listen to them and kept the old one. I did have to buy two longer bolts and make two spacers for the front mounting, it cost $1.57 at Ace Hardware. I have now had it on about two years and it works and fit.

I also use my adjustable back rest quite often..On the freeway for extended periods, I like to lean it way back, then up closer for better upper body control in the curves. It does cost more $$,, but I am glad I have it.

You guys crack me up!! Make a mental note to self.....do NOT believe the parts dept.....they'll screw you every time! butt

Well, at least someone got a good laugh out of my ignorance...come to think of it I'll bet the parts guys did too. How's your weather out there? Still too much snow to ride the new anniversary trike?

Really want to get a blank stare out of the parts dept., ask for a senior discount and whip out your AARP card

Snowing....again! :censored::censored::censored:

When I bought my 2011 they also told me that the adjustable one was the only one that would fit,so I got it. I kept the one off my 2004Ultra. Well my brother was over one day and he said lets try your old one. Well guess what, it fit perfect, and it was the old style that had the pouch behind it. So I gave it to Dennis of T-glide stuff. So don't let them tell you otherwise. Don't know why they did away with that pouch, my wife loves it.

I just use a regular touring backrest...yes the mount fits under the seat and it works just fine. My dealer told me the same thing about the adjustable backrest and I ignored it in this case and am glad I did.

I got the adjustable on mine also. The only thing that is different between the ultra classic and the trike are the front forks. They are not interchangeable and mounts are different for fender etc.
