Aux fuel pump seized

I have a 2004 Roadsmith on a 2002 Goldwing. On long rides on a hot day the auxiliary fuel tank transfer pump does not work. I can hear it trying to pump, but nothing happens. After the bike cools down, the pump works fine. I'm figuring the pump seizes when the weather is very hot along with the fact the pump is only a couple of inches away from the exhaust.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

This winter I'm going to fabricate a heat shield between the exhaust and the pump and see if that fixes it. Of course, I can always buy a new pump, but I want to try this first.

Heat is a killer of electrical parts

WE had a Champion tune up seminar years ago, the instructor warned us of low fuel damaging and over heating fuel pumps

His theory was the fuel helped to keep the pump cool, it made sense to me@ the time

Thanks Jack. The heat appears to be seizing the piston, although the pump only runs when transferring fuel. It hasn't run dry. I'm going to carry a small spray bottle of water and use it to cool the pump next time this happens.

Roadsmith needs to design a gravity fed fuel system like CSC has. Here's the fuel pump info if you need a new pump.
