Aussie Annie has said the temperatures have been horrible this year with temperatures over 100F in may regions of Australia, and now huge wildfires are raging. :AGGHH:
So, from your friends across the Big Pond, the USA, stay safe and good
luck! ThumbUp

You all are in our thoughts and prayers!!!! Please keep us updated on what is going on. Our news only mentions it in passing, so we don't get the whole story.

Thank you rosy. Here on the west coast we are okay so far, but the east coast isn't doing too good. 160 fires throughout the state of New South Wales :AGGHH:

Annie,
Have you heard from any of the Trike Talk members that live in that area? I has hopping they would chime in and let us know how they are doing. There are at least 6 members or more that could be in the wildfire areas. Boy, that's sad, because at times there is nothing you can do but pack-up and leave, just like our wildfires in the southwest and California.
Keep us posted if you hear anything.
Good luck!

Hi All, AussiePilch, I live in the northern part of Oz and we are the lucky ones i guess. The fires are about 900ks south of us on a small island and everyone is hoping no strong winds spring up there. About another 300-500 ks further south the people are not so fortunate, yes we are all praying for them. We are experiencing fair temperatures here around 30c but are spared the danger so far. They are ariel bombing the worst of the fires and I see we have ELVIS over here again helping out (Elvis is a massive chopper that carries great amounts of water for fire fighting. Apparently we hire him from the States when we are in this situation.)
Thanks for your well wishes and I'm sure we will come out on top in the end, we are a tough bunch down here.

We have C-130 aircrafts that 'bomb" the fires with fire retardant chemicals, like the fires in California and the southwest. Hope we send them over to help you fight the those fires. I saw them use aircarft to "bomb" fires in Italy when I was there. Very impressive operation. They would scoop the water out of the Mediterranean Sea and spray the hill sides.
Good luck!

My brother lives in Adelaide (south coast of Australia), and fortunately isn't close to the fires, but their temperatures are off the charts. Just the other day he sent me an e-mail saying it was 45°C there, which is 113°F. It's been like that for a while now too. It's so hot over there they had to add two colors to the temperature color map!!

So Sorry to hear that! We lost a few when they were fighting our wild fires here in the states. We lost a C-130 aircarft as it was fighting a wildfire,
It is so sad to here about the people who give their All so we can stay safe!

hello, ive been absent from the forum a bit lately due to planning the big USA trip. just on today to catch up with the members who we may be able to meet on our travels..
anyway those fires were mean.. we live on acreage in southern queensland and had a fairly big fire in the forest at the end of our street. the daylight was orange from the smoke. scarey stuff as you cant fight it. you just get ready to run. luckily its out now and the drought we have been having which left everything dry is over.. we are into day 3 of pouring rain and it seems like a blessing. i have a fairly large self sufficient home, we catch our own rainwater, and have solar power which feeds surplus back into the grid, today my tanks and dams are full, any fire risk here is gone for some time.
thanks for the thoughts

That is good news, oneup! I know that there was tremendous damage an loss already. Fires like that are terrifying because they move so fast and there really is nothing you can do but get out of the way! I sincerely hope that there was no more loss of life than the one sad death Annie mentioned above. That is one too many!

funny how things change. we are now in severe flood mode. we are on high ground so totally safe, but we cant leave the area as all roads are under water. we went for a dive which was wierd because the sun is now out but the rivers are still rising. our road to the local village is under about 10 ft. there is a small car with only the top inch of its roof showing on the other side of the floodway. all other exit roads are 15 ft + under.. good side no work today or tomorrow. however there will be people who will loose their homes and towns north of us have had it worse.

I am so thankful you are safe!!! But what a lot of tragedy on top of tragedy! The folks affected by all of this will continue to be in my prayers.

Prayers and best wishes being sent from Central VA to all of those who are suffering from these fires and floods down under,,,.

I say, you people haven't had a good break in a while, from one tragedy to another. Here is hopping Y'All get a break and everything will be back to "normal" soon. I really don't know what normal is Down Under for this time of the year. But, may good weather, bring happiness into your lives!
Here in New Hampshire it has been cold with 3" of fresh snow on the ground today. Been out already, 5:30AM, and snowblowed the driveway which takes about an 1 hour and 1/2 to do.
So, everybody, where ever you may be, enjoy today and have a wonderful week!

Wow, you guys Down Under are really getting hammered. Now you have 10' of sea foam washing on shore and it is covering everything in its path. :gah:
Just like a tsunami of sea foam!
Is there anything else which can happen to you?
Good luck, don't let the foam touch your trikes, it may rust the frame or your chrome wheels.
