Apes on a Tri-Glide?

Hey! A while back I picked up a 2013 Tri-Glide and now would like to change out the handlebars. I've had Apes on just about every bike I've ever owned but am not sure how they would work on a Tri-Glide since you actually have to turn the trike rather than just leaning it.
I love the Wild 1's and am thinking 12.5's or the 14's - maybe pull them forward a bit. Anyone have any experience with Apes on a Tri-Glide and how it handles with 'em? Thanking you in advance!
PS I've already ridden a trike with the HD 2" pullbacks and was not impressed (sorry to those that have 'em).:(
I'm an "Aper" I guess!

I ran the 12.5 Wild Ones on two of my Tri-Glides and loved them. No problem with steering the trikes. One note, I did put the Tglide lifts on both trikes, not only did it improve the ride but the steering also.

Handling won't be an issue. Since you do have to exert force on the grips to turn, it is just a matter of what position YOU are comfortable doing that.

I have "apes" on my '14, and had them on my '11. BUT, I have them pulled back toward me, rather that being high in the air.

I gotta get a better picture, but here's the '14. The bars are 9" longer (taller) than stock and about 4.5 of that 9" is closer to me, and the other 4.5" is taller than stock.

Here's a pic of the '11 with 7" extra added to the stock bars...about 3.5" higher and 3.5" closer.

Zero handling issues, and really comfortable for me with my bum left shoulder.

WOW - they look great! That's what I'd do (that's what I did on my RK) I pulled the bars back toward me until I found a comfortable seating position. The stock HD bars are way too low and too forward. I tried the HD 2" pull backs but there still wasn't enuff pull back for me and they were killing my wrist. So I was thinking that I'd like to try the Wild 1's 14" apes (what I had on my RK) and pull them back to get a good angle. I was just concerned about turning with them b/c you need to actually move (push) the bars to turn and I was thinking they might be too wide or high to do that safely. I read another post about the Heilbars but I just don't like the looks of 'em. Think I'll order the 14" apes in black and see - finding the right bar can get damn expensive! :gah:But I guess it'll be worth it in the long run.:)

Kevin what kind of camera is that on your trike I would like to get one for or trike thanks

It is a Drift HD170. I purchased it a few years ago, and it has served us well. I'm using a RAM mounting system.

Yeah, I could not find any bars that put my hands where I wanted them, it was pretty easy (and less expensive) to get them made...exactly to how I wanted them.

btw, having the grips be a bit wider than stock makes for easier steering also, gives you a bit more leverage on the bars, equaling less effort expended in the curves.

Check out this thread, post #35, where I detail what went in to changing the handlebars.

Here is a pic of the bars before they went to powder.

Got a 2010, started out putting on 10" wasn't enough for me. Switched then over to 12". Rode for a year and still wasn't happy. Figured on going to 14", after some serious thinking and getting tired of changing the bars,I went with the 16" Paul yaffes. I love them, handling is great and they are very comfortable for me. I'm 6 4. I'm finally good on the handlebars and now an expert on handlebar replacement. :D
