I have an '84 Venture Royale that I'm considering adding it to and am looking for some opinions on how well the landing gear system works. The wife won't ride on it any more even though we both loved it before we bought the '09 RSV and triked it a year later. I have a lot of chrome aftermarket on the back of the '84 I would hate to lose should I decide to go either triwing or homemade...

:Coffee:.......I've seen the landing gear I'll be afraid of it dropping in a pot hole flipping over . I guess if you didn't depend on 'em a lot it would be okay , looks intrusive and in the way to me . :gah:...... Now that's just an opinion , maybe you can get a answer from somebody that has used it . You can always use a outrigger system and keep your chrome ....ThumbUp

Had a friend who had these on Goldwing. After seeing his history and watching him ride, (he had almost a million miles experience), I wouldn't have them on a bet in hilly country which is where we live.

The problem is probably not important in flat land country, but in the hills and mountains it is very easy to miss exactly when to lower/raise wheels. When you miss the bike becomes an instant trike which changes how you steer. I've seen him leave an intersection and not raise the wheels soon enough and then one catches on a small rise in the road and immediately stands the bike upright interrupting his turn. It's hard to explain but the landing gear setup requires constant attention which is a huge distraction. Personally, I would convert to a full trike before using them. I consider them dangerous on anything other than flat ground. YMMV!

I have a very good friend that has street bike,( crotch rocket,) CBR 603, he has landing gear on it because he is a T-4 quadriplegic. I've seen his like many times and it is never failed him. It's really truly amazing how when he comes to stop the little wheels come down and hold him up right. I heard that their first earlier models were not reliable but the ones that he has on his motorcycle are completely reliable. And keep in mind, being a quadriplegic if they fail he's falling over.
