air wing rack with led light

I put the air wing rack on the Freewheeler today. I also got the smoked LED light to go in it. After installing the light, running the wire, and removing the seat, I learn the adapter Harley sells with the kit does not work on the Freewheeler. The Y adapter to plug into the tail light harness is a 6 pin adapter. The Freewheeler has an 8 pin plug for the tail light harness... Any suggestions as to a part number to request from them to get the right harness so I dont have to cut and splice wires? The harness and kit they sell for the Freewheeler is for the Ultra/Triglide, and they have a 6 pin plug on the tail light harness. We popped the seat on my dads '14 Ultra and its a perfect fit.

I have run into almost the same thing when I was wiring my gps. When using the zomo wiring it has to be plugged in before the Y adapter. Gives 2 sources for power.
It's backwards

That post will be of great help! I went back to Harley today and Harley and myself found out that the Freewheeler does not have a Y connector yet. So I will have to make one. They will be making the contacts this week to let them know that apparently the Freewheeler has a different harness and different plugs than all the other bikes they have. They were scratching their heads as to why Harley did this.

Is it possible to use the accessory plug under the left cover?
The touring bike rear extra run/brake light uses this plug.
On the flrt you have to use their gps plug to connect the Y adapter which has 2 sets of working on the 4 prong plug.
I will double check my adapter to see if they can still do the run/brake from that plug.
By using the gps plug you get 2 extra accessory plugs plus the gps if you use the wired connections.
The Y plug will not fit the accessory plug on the flrt.
Just guessing here.

Here is the post you need to understand the rear wiring tail of the Freewheeler:

I have to confess that for the Air Wing Rack light, I just ran it over in the left fender and attached it to that rear fender light assembly on my trike..... If that is all your adding (rear light - wise) you don't need to go to too much trouble to do so.....

PS - I don't know about you and your Air Wing Light - but I think mine is pretty weak (Brightness Wise) - that is something I wish someone would offer us a brighter version of........

Air wing led light

I hooked in my wing light to the wires running to the tail lights. The book wiring shows both side have the same color wires. I found the wires right behind the seat running along the trunk. I spliced in to it in the middle. Black to black, blue to blue and blue, red to blue red. Wing light works good on an when I hit the brake lights foot and hand. The air wing flashes when left turn signal is on too, but right turn signal doesn't. Does this all make sense?
