I retired about 15 years ago, I was the chief safety inspector for the Acme Anvil Co..
But business was starting to fall off a Cliff the last few years' So i figured i'll better get out before they transferred me to the Dynamite dept.. ....

Retirement

I retired over 5 years ago after 38 years in the large commercial/industrial construction industry. The decision to retire was easy.

Lovin' the time off.....:DThumbUp

Still working, but one lottery win away from retirement. At least I get to ride for business sometimes. Case in point, in middle of a 300 mile road trip on trike right now. Getting paid for every mile. And for those who care, I am a Senior Field Service Engineer for balancing machines (that's a mouthful).:qpnmt:

Retarded for most of my Adult years. But was forced into retirement after accident resulting in several Back surgeries.

Do I miss working? Yes I did at first, but I've adjusted real well !!!!! ThumbUp

After working many years in different fields I was able to retire a little early in 2003. Moved to motorcycle heaven, Arkansas, in 2004 and loving life.

Just retired March 1, 2016. 44 years in the country grain elevator business. To soon to tell how I like it. Different not getting up every day at same time to go to work. Hoping to get in more riding; however do have 3 grandboys that need attention..

Retired

I am retired after 37 years in electronics. The last 32 were with the local phone company.
Next week marks my 10th year of retirement and my wife retired one week after I did.
It's been great. :wave4:

Still working  Oh lucky me. I will be 66 yrs old this summer and started working full time when I was 17 right out of high school. Went to college for a couple of years when I could squeeze in the time. Will likely retire next year in August of 2017 when my wife will be 65 and on Medicare. I spent my time in the wrong arena for whatever reason and won't have a comfortable income when I retire. Just hope I can hang on to what I have now so I can still ride.

Working,I'm not old enough to retire,or have a income to retire.I may never have.I say I'm am not going to retire,I am just going to stop going to work some day.I worked for a few companies over the years,One company I spent 20yrs working for making industrial heating and cleaning equiptment.Things got bad and they went bankrupt.I was self employed for a couple of years and drove school bus. Then went to work as a fabricater at a aluminum mill.I worked there for 3yrs.Now I work at a chemical plant as a millwright .Been doing this for over 5 yrs.

Joined the Navy right out of high school, and rode submarines for the better part of 28 years. Retired from the Navy and then went to work in the power plant of one of the local university's. Operating Co-generation plants, providing electricity, air conditioning and heating to the university campus and research buildings. Retired again 4 years ago from that job.

Like Rick, I worked at G.M. and retired in 2001 with a little over 30 years service. It's been 15 years now and no regrets at all, the Misses retired at about the same time and we moved to Florida in 2002. Best part is no more alarm clocks at 4:30 AM !!!

I was in the tire business with my 2 brothers and my father until I hurt my back and we sold out. I ran the retread plant. Later I worked as a computer tech until my back put me down. Now I am retired. My first wife passed away 1 year to the day after she retired. My present wife is a retired school teacher. We enjoy short trips on the trike.

I retired on December 7,2015 after almost 42 years with PPG Industries,Glass Division,as a Production Maintenance Tech. My alter-ego was owner of H & H Custom from 1979-2006,building custom cars, bikes, and aircraft. My wife is also retired.

Retired from the Navy in 78 (21 yrs), went to work for a military contractor for a while then my spot was converted to Civil Service and I retired from that in 99. Life sure is different when you are home every night.

Retired from the Army in 95 after 20 years. Spent the next 7 as a manager for AutoZone. Went to civil service as a Bradley Weapons Tech in 2002. Plan on calling this quits in about 2 1/2 more years when I hit 62.

retired

yes I was lucky and retired at 55, do not miss work but do miss the people I worked with. 37 years in construction. been retired for 20 years. once you realize you are not going to starve to death, I can not find any thing wrong with it. shop thur the week, fish thur the week, ride the trike thur the week. don't have to fight the week-end traffic if I don't want to. :pepper::pepper::pepper:

Hi all, enjoy seeing what other trike talk members are up to.
I've spent 43 years in aerospace and industrial equipment manufacturing as IT an analyst project manager, and Manager / Director of multi-site organizations around the US.

I currently spend three days a week working for a relative of the family coordinating software implementation and deployment projects in his small industrial manufacturing business. I pick the days I work around weather and personal plans.

My wife turns 65 in the fall of 2017 and I'm expecting to pull the plug completely then although I feel like I'm kind of retired now with 4 days a week to do my own thing at the lake. We've started taking a good share of the winter off to head to warmer climates to ride the trike. already.

Joined the Navy at 17 in 1969..got into electronics after I got out. Worked at San Onofre Nuclear on Security. Then the transportation industry lay terms trucking for the last 23years. Retired Aug 8 2013 and love every minute of it. After being gone for 4,5 6 weeks at a time just love being free. Weather nice ride almost every day or search Fleabay and internet for deals and parts have a tubb of NOS for my 23 year old trike. Anyway great to hear so many are retired and enjoying their second chance at life..:pepper:

Still working full time, at least until I win the lotto then I'm done with the 8-5 hustle (not holding my breath though). Even when I do "retire" from the working world, true retirement isn't an option for me. Wife's family does hay & cattle & I'm gonna have to take that over sooner or later, her parents & uncle aren't getting any younger. Needless to say, long vacations and seeing the sights won't be in the cards for me even at "retirement".

I retired after 31 years with a city Police Dept. then I went to Barber School and had a Barbershop for 9 years. I have been fully retired for 3 years now and and have really been enjoying retirement. Getting my 2007 Goldwing triked with a Champion kit a few months back has been wonderful. Going for a nice ride in about and hour as the temp. is 71 degrees and should make for a great ride.

Call somebody who cares......

Six months after I retired I got a call from my former employer's support center telling me they had an alarm going off in their data center and were wondering what to do.....

I politely said. "I'm sorry but you'll have to call somebody who cares". THEN I told them I had been retired for awhile. I had wanted to be able to say that for a long time, having been on-call 24/7 for the previous 48 years.

I started my career at Bissell, the carpet sweeper people, as a computer programmer in 1965. After gaining some experience there, I moved on to Meijer, a mid-west grocery chain, retiring after 43 years holding various positions with their data centers.

I have been retired now for 3 years. Bought a 2014 Triglide 2 years ago. Had ridden two wheels since high school.

It's still plenty chilly in West Michigan right now so the trike is still in the storage trailer. Spring can't come too soon!

Ride Safe!

DAVE : You and your wife should come down here for the winter months. Plenty of good rides down here during your winter months. We did that for a number of yrs now were finally living here year round ThumbUp My son lives in Fargo and is a school teacher there. We're going to go see him in July or Aug and the 4 curtain crawlers lol

What Retirement???

I stopped "officially" working in 2000 after 30 years in sales. Sold School Buses, Truck Parts, Industrial parts, Fasteners, and finally worked for Lowe's. Built my own concession booth and traveled 3.5 years selling Funnel Cakes, Lemonade, water, popcorn and coffee on the carnival circuit from Marysville. WA to Chula Vista, Ca with Arizona, Nevada and Colorado thrown in... Built my house from scratch in NE Oklahoma, sold Tornado Shelters, and now restaurant advertising tables. (oktabletalkers.com), We have some FANTASTIC roads here in NE Oklahoma and NW Arkansas and we are on them as often as we can.

Still Working

Still working. 28years so far with the County. My position... Chief Mechanical Inspector for construction. I'll be 57 this October and my wife just turned 44. Working hard at getting my 2012 Roadglide sold so that we can get the Rewaco RF1 GT. Hopefully by this fall.

Rolling Thunder, We were in the Mesa area two years ago for a couple of weeks and rode our trike. I was diagnosed with lung cancer shortly after getting home and the doctors are saying I need to be very careful not to contract 'Valley Fever' should we go back to Arizona so thinking we'll stay farther east for a bit yet as I'm doing much better at the moment.

Let us know when you come to Fargo this summer and maybe we could meet somewhere as we're only an hour south on I-29.

I retired in 1993 from Indiana State University as a Professor of Mathematics having also taught in the School of Technology (machine shop, welding, foundry and forging, general metals, engineering drawing and Descriptive Geometry). Upon early retirement we moved to Naples, Florida and established residency. Lived in Florida almost 21 years but kept our lake home in Indiana (spent summers there) until 2002 when we bought a place in Alabama. Sold our Florida home and currently live on a lake in Bama. Before teaching I worked in industry as a Tool and Die Maker and welder after returning from Korea and being discharged. I've loved every minute of my retirement especially riding my trike (currently 2014 Hannigan Gen II with 180 front end).

I retired last June the day before my 63rd birthday. I worked as a radiology tech from when i got out of high school until I turned 50. Then I worked as an MRI tech until I retired. My wife will retire next year. I volunteer at Humane Society on Tuesdays and at the Lemay Family Collection Museum on Thursday. Love it.:)
