Good Morrow thee!

So if you ever have the chance to attend one of these festivals, I would certainly recommend it !

I was blown away by the amount of the thought, time and money that people will invest in their costumes. They really immerse themselves into their characters as well. I had the pleasure of talking with Lord John while our Madame's were shopping across from us. They were a retired couple that travels from fair to fair, they had been coming to this one for some 30+ years now. I met quite a few colorful character's and made some instant friends as nobody us a stranger here.

This weekend was titled the Highland Fling, Scottish clans were well represented in all ages and sizes :) the wee one's were too cute!

But was plenty of the Ladies, Knights, Nobles, Fairies, Elves, Pirates, Barbarians, mystical and other fanciful characters to interact with too.

I got into character for a minimal cost :D

We have the big Scarborough Fair festival up here in the spring. April and May. 8 weekends we cannot travel the main highway between Waxahachie and Maypearl because of the traffic. It is just off I-35 S. With the interstate being widened to 3 lanes and the outside lane now being the shoulder, It's going to be really interesting to see how the county deals with the traffic that used to back up down the exit ramp onto the shoulder. If they do as I suspect they will, they will block off that exit and force traffic to use the one that is to the north 1 mile. Sadly, that was always our escape valve to get home the back roads. Only other way is FM 875 towards Venus, TX. That is also under construction. :gah:

Hi Randall...

Was there any kind of strange food dishes offered at the fair?

Hello Carla, well besides all the fair type food available there were a few unique type offerings. As you can imagine there were many places to choose from, one that we came across was the Queens pantry. Their fresh baked goods were extensive including the cinnamon squealers (bacon layered cinnamon rolls)and Scottish eggs :clapping:

Turkey legs and every type of "on a stick" item you could think of was abundant...and don't forget the spirits :drinks-wine: :drinks:
