2006 Softail with Frankenstein kit

I need to get 02 plugs for the V&H Short Shots, Ran out of blue locktite. Plus I have poison ivy on my arms and belly. Had no problems with the kit.

Looks good. Frankenstein is a quality kit. I have one on my FatBob and have installed a couple outhers for friends.
Sounds like you already have the shortshots which are the same as I tried first. I ended up changing them out for the V&H Big Radius which are turned down toward the ground. The short shots blast directly at the rear axle constantly turning it black, in other words a PIA to keep clean.

Thanks Which reverse kit do you have on yours? does it clear the exhaust? Do you like it and how well does it work.

Got the plugs and installed them. So after dinner as long as the weather holds out, she may take a maiden voyage.

I have the Champion reverse, everything cleares. I like it fine and have another on my RK/Hack.

The wife get's to go first. I will tell her about the feet part. I am going to try to get some better pics outside. Still got to do the rake kit. But I think I need to take the tank off so I can get to the wiring plugs. The wiring goes thru a slot in the upper tree. The dealer want's 300.00 to do it. I am also going to install a Champion reverse in it.

Take a close look at the upper tree. The last install I did there was a removable plate so wireing could easily slipped in new tree but might not be on all of them.

With the Champion reverse you have to drill two holes for locking screws, very easy with the supplied jig and round tip end mill which chucks up in any drill. Just make sure you have RPMs built up befor starting to bore the holes.

Engaging the metal too slow or from a stop will break/shatter the mill, it is very brittle compared to a drill bit.

I took it for a ride before the rain It will take some getting use to. handles well but turning will take some practice. Sounds good with the V&H pipes. Found out I will need to remove the tanks to change the trees. No access plate in either upper.

I know mine is a Sportster, lighter, but haven't found a need for reverse. Wifey hasn't either. Just pay attention to where you park. You will notice the difference with the raked trees. I drove it for a bit before installing the trees just to get a comparison. If you find the standard baffles are too loud,go for the quiet baffles wrapped with f/g cloth. I used 5' tied on with s/s wire. Takes a lot of the edge off the exhaust. Got them off e-bay new 40 bucks without the chintzy f/g mat V&H supplies

Dropped off the bike at the dealers for them to install the rake kit. They have done 3 Frankenstein conversions in their shop. and are more reasonable than the first dealer i talked to. Should have it back either tomorrow or Friday. Just not feeling well enough to tackle it myself but I need to get it finished.

Picked up the bike from having the rake kit installed. Here are some better pic's. Hope I'm not boring everyone, I'm happy the way it turned out. After dinner a test ride<a href="http://www.triketalk.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=22273&d=1409864667" title="Name: Rake kit install 001.JPG

ThumbUp Looking good. If you decide to mount a trunk on the luggage rack give me a shout. The one I adapted on mine is working out great.

I just got back from a 22 mile ride. I am pleased rides and handles well. The rake kit made a huge difference. Not to bad using my arms for turning (or its the steroids they put me on for the poison oak) My wife is anxious to start riding .
I'm going to need to do some thing for her to put her bag in when she goes to work. Let me know what you came up with. Hopefully I can keep the pass backrest.

It appears you have the same aftermarket rack/sissybar I adapted my trunk to. The trunk I used [80's Yamaha tour trunk] has steel plates inside, but I reinforced all the new mounting holes with f/g cloth epoxied in and backed the lock nuts w/fender washers also. I used emt clamps thru bolted to secure trunk to rack w/spacers as needed and rubber cushions between rack and trunk. I also fabbed a bracket from rack to L/plate bracket for additional support. If you haven't already, check e-bay, craigslist, there are smaller aftermarket trunks or used trunks so you can keep your backrest. Any other questions, just ask.Frankenstein Trike I 003.jpgFrankenstein Trike I 001.jpg

Oh yeah, have added horse saddle pommel bags between fender and trike fenders. Cheap and they are great for small items. Got them on e-bay.ThumbUp

Oh yeah #2,have also added armrest and a sheepskin seat cover. [wifey wanted them] It just never ends.
