1911 have been survive for over 100 years, thanks for Jonh M. Browning who invented this pistol and stil popular pistol today, I was carried this pistol, a Colt 1911 A1 in the jungle for many years in Lao and Cambodia, each time I have to use it, I was thinking why it just 7 rouunds magazine, sometime in fire fight, my M14 was ran out of the ammo (200 rounds of .308 is very heavy when I was 125 #) plus I have to caried other stuff to do the other job too. My Colt 1911 with five magazines seem to be not enought, but it better than nothing.
Today some 1911 pistol have 14 rounds double stags magazine such as a Para Ornanace but still not as good as seven or ten rounds single stag 1911.
Glock came out around 1982, when I look at the glock first time it look very ugly to me, plus I did not like plastic gun (Polymer) and never interest to me and I still carrying my 1911 Colt Commander for my concealed at that time until 1991 I open my own gun shop, Glock sale rep. came over took me over out door range let me shoot Glock model 21 caliber .45 ACP I just feel that I was wrong about the Glock, I shot better group than my Colt Commander from that day, I was carrying a Glock 30.
One thing about the Glock, if you are hand loader you will not like the Glock at all because Glock have non-supporting chamber, if you using hand load may be blow the bottom off.
Today about 70% of law enforcment in the US are using Glock.
