014 & pull in clutch to start in gear?

My 014 will not start in gear with the clutch pulled in. The dealer says this is the way the 014 Triglide is designed. But I'm getting different information on this forum. People are saying that their 014 is starting with the clutch pulled in, and the trany in gear? I know my 011 Triglide did start in gear with the clutch in, but that's not the case with my 014. What's correct??

While in gear with the clutch pulled in step on rear brake and push start button and she'll start. The key is hand break or foot brake needs to be set.

Page 111 of the 2015 owners manual, step 4 of 5. It is also in the 2014 manual, I just can't tell you exactly where.
