The chrome part of the left (battery) and right side covers on my 2008 Goldwing, were in terrible condition so I replaced them with new Big Bike/Show Chrome covers. I thought it would be an easy replacement but they really don’t fit the Motor Trike part of the trike. It looks like maybe the MT fiberglass is off just a little so the covers won’t push in to all the connecting hole grommets. I’ve putzed around with them, trimmed the pieces as needed but they just don’t fit.

I was talking with my cousin who just bought a nice 2008 GL with the Road Smith conversion and he has had the same issues. Has anybody else run into this and what did you do to fix it?

The Goldwing side cover rear trim panels are replaced with a custom-manufactured, made-to-fit piece supplied by each trike conversion manufacturer that is specifically made to fit their trike body's contour. These are available in either black or chrome and can be sourced from your trike conversion's manufacturer.

Thanks Papa Zook. I’ll call my closest MT dealer and ask them to get me a price. The old chrome pieces were also Big Bike Parts that had a couple of small notches cut out of the lower chrome area to fit over covered bolts of the MT. I didn’t realize they had their own proprietary chrome pieces.

Good! I’ve been careful going in and out of driveway entrances but when the turndowns were on my air bags were toast, along with the digital readouts, so I think the trike sat a little lower. So far so good but I prefer the looks of the OEM better. Thanks again!! 👍
