turns out spring is not the problem. The pawl was in wrong orientation. Fixed that and got spring in place. Took 3 tries but got it. Now need to adjust the brake since it ratchets more than 3 clicks.
You are correct. It is the pawl spring. I tried to get it back to in place but it keeps jumping out. I think the spring has lost its mojo. Now I need to find a part number and get a new one.
Might be a coincidence but I rode the trike to my dentist today and the parking brake is locked up. I wonder if the dealer did something since this is the first time I used it since the service. Now I got to crawl around and investigate
Had the trike serviced yesterday at local HD dealership and they washed it for me. After the wash, the radio and gages wouldn’t work so they had to pull it back in to check it out.

Based on the chatter here, I’m taking a chance with the Dr Scholl’s pad from local Walmart. My butt hurts whether I drive the trike or the Bronco Sport. I’ll try this for a while, switching back and forth to see if there is any difference
