Well.... the fenders are finished. Excuse the pause that will come before they are mounted.... They are in the Ukraine and have to get Missouri and then wait our turn for the frame...
More than I can tell my wife :Dorag:
Andrey is not bad really. The fenders were ~$900 each. (Yes that is WAAAAY more expensive than V-Twin replicas, but they did not fit the trike and were not what I was looking for) I am just about in year two of this build and budget does make it a slow...
Yes, thought that would be a good way to improve draining for an oil change. I have not found exactly the right devise yet, but am looking. Something like this...only larger
PS... all the visible parts will be nickel plated or black powdercoat
I came across a couple of Lunkenheimer No. 8 Hit/Miss Engine oilers on eBay a few weeks ago
I thought they would make a cool oil tank. So I bought them and started playing around with them. I have to replace the cork seals with Viton rings, and make a manifold for the inbound and outbound...
The fenders are progressing.... about 3/4 there. The tail will hinge (like the hardtail knucks and pans) at the edge sitting on the chair. They will have about a 270 degree wrap around the rear tires
I fab'd a pair of replicas of the OEM Knuckle Brake Pedal. One left for the clutch, One right for the brake. You can see the rather used and abused OEM part I used as a pattern here.
I left a lot of extra room at the bottom to marry it to a pair of Twisted Choppers forward controls...
A couple of other updates....
Hand controls from Renaud's Speed shop in Estonia... They arrived last week. Getting the front caliper and rotor to complete the system this Fall. Cool switch configuration
Leather Grips from Demeanor Customs in the UK
The saddle is in work too (See Mr. Twister was not foolin you)
The one on the left was the saddle I started with, the one in the middle is the style and color of the recover, the one on the right shows the back rest the saddle maker is building into it.
And yes Jack.... I figured out the...
I also got some 3D Printed inserts for a pair of 1914-25 Footboards with the "Hardly Davidson" graphic from the tank decal (below is the concept I sent to the 3D printer guy...still waiting for them to come back) and a reproduction set of footboard extensions for the period to give the the leg...
I got all the parts puled together for a 1937 "Skull" dash instrument panel as well. Believe it or not, the original 2000 FXSTS Speedo fits perfectly into the dash. I could not believe the MoCo left some dimension out of their engineered obsolescence program :Dorag: (Don't tell them...
Here is the latest photoshop of the concept with the actual fenders pasted in
Here is the tank panel paint scheme for the trike
Trike will be deep gloss black with pinstripes . No graphics like the Freewheeler Chopper
Here is the concept for the body. After fenders and tanks, it will be next.
Saddle, "Hardly Davidson" footboards, and foot controls are in work as well. I will post pictures of them later this week
