Looking to make my trike sound loud with minimal dollars

I am looking to make my trike louder with out needing a tuner. Dealer told me to update my air cleaner to a stage 1 and that would improve it and than I could also add some slip on exhaust pipes. Any suggestions out there?

I would contact 1 of our sponsors, DK Custom Products. Good people all and Kevin has done more TriGlide testing on air cleaners, exhaust and suspension, as well as heat reduction.

Cut the baffles out of the stock slip ons. Install Torque Thrust Inserts from DKcustoms. That is the set up i have and sounds very good. I also removed the cat out of the head pipe.

Take a 1 inch hole saw and drill the center of the baffle out in the end of the muffler's easy to do sounds great , you can do it with the mufflers on the bike.

Why do you want your trike to sound louder???

1. Make it go faster

2. Make people pay attention to you

3. Just to piss people off

4. Make little boys and girls cover their ears and cry

TAYQ: Cheapest way = knock out stock baffles

If putting a stage one air cleaner on and then slip on's, you will need a tuner, not a mechanic but have heard this many times, to much air flow and a tuner helps this out.

As many has said knock out the baffles and put in the torque inserts from DK Customs, myself I have had loud on many bikes and now I'm happy with the sound of stock pipes on my 2018 triglide.

Look at the video on youtube with the cobra 909's on a triglide, good sound IMHO.

Hate me if you must

Well, I'm gonna piss a lot of people off, but here goes...

Like you, I paid a good deal of cash for the best three wheeled motorcycle available. Please don't start drilling holes in things and chipping out cats with hammers. (there's even an online business that will do it for you). Spend your Christmas cash and DIY it or have it professionally done. https://www.opusharley-davidson.com/customs/stage-1-2-upgrade

A dealer will charge $2,000... maybe less. For half the cost you can EASILY do the job yourself.

I just had the dealer install Street Canons after they did a demonstration of a showroom Trike with and a showroom Trike without. Louder than stock but a comfortable loud for me.

Stage1 kit and Rinehart 4in slip on did it for me

I took my 2020 Tri Glide into the dealership had a stage 1 upgrade done ($$$) with Rinehart slip on and a lift kit ( so I would not scrape the exhaust when going over a dip, speed bump)in my humble opinion I think it was well worth the money, the looks and sound of the exhaust pipes are much improved. You decide, your Trike your money your decision.

JMHO and I'll get a lot of hate mail on this, but I think Rinehart's should be illegal. 2 members of my chapter have them and I can't ride anywhere near them without earplugs.

Obnoxious!! But that's what some riders want.

Gary I know exactly what you are saying. Some Rineharts are good some are not, i'm not sure what model is good & what one isn't, but some have the raspy sound that just annoys the heck out me. A friend of mine has some cobra's that sound great at idle, & good down the road when behind him. I rode his trike & it was so loud I swapped back to mine real fast. It's getting more difficult for me to find what I like with the M8 motor.

Arnie. I do have the Cobra Race Pro slip ons - not the Neighbor Haters. The black tips really add a nice touch. They are a deep mellow sound not loud and obnoxious. I don't see them on the Cobra website anymore so I don't know if they are still available for the trike

I have cvo mufflers with fulsac baffle kit. They were great on my 103's, but not on my M8. I pulled the baffles out & the packing is all gone! I ordered some ceramic baffle wrap hopefully that will get the sound back that I like.

Gary do you have a part # for the mufflers you are running. I found a couple places that have the Cobra's but want to make sure they are the correct ones. I have my cvo's at the powder coater's now getting ceramic finished. When I get those back & reinstalled if I still don't like them then I'll be trying the Cobra's you have. Thanks

I think it's #6218 but without the black saddle rear attachment bracket. All I see in their catalog is a slash cut design.

I liked the look of the black bolt on rear end piece.

I also needed a special "Y" connector from Cobra.

I went with Rineharts. Somewhat louder than my stock mufflers. Quieter than my neighbor's Sportster. I like no longer having tailgaters.:D

GaryI can't find that part # without the saddle. Did you get these off the net or from a dealer? Thanks

These are the ones I was thinking about but never dropped the trigger, if I remember right they used to be higher priced, those at J&P are the number 6218 and they will fit my 2018 triglide but not ready yet, will keep my stock for now. I seen these on you tube and really liked the deep mellow sound they had.
