Trike Talk Texas Hill Country Reunion 2019

This will be a blast. I have never celebrated my birthday in Sweetwater, Texas. :)

If you are in Sweetwater for a meal - google Allen’s Family Style Meals.

They are on facebook. Phone: 325-235-2060....to double-check serving hours.

EXCELLENT fried chicken, other entrees, all the fix’ns, .... all you can eat = $10...was what I paid the last time - that was in 2017.

It is served family style - where strangers sit next to each other at the same table and pass bowls of food. The ladies keep those bowls full. If you want a particular item like drumsticks or wings and the plate doesn’t have any - just ask - they will bring them out.

Been going to that place from Midland since the early 80’s. It is an old house that Mrs. Allen used to live in and began serving fried chicken lunches to make money back in the 50’s - is what I have been told. Her family still owns/operates it

Forgot to add that you need to get there early...the line forms BEFORE 11:00 which is opening time.

It’s not on your route and I THINK they only serve 11-2. Not sure about the serving hours..that’s why I provided the phone number.

ACCuWeather is predicting 80’s and fair weather for the week of this shindig. HOORAY! :clapping:

Hope this forecast holds... we’ll see...

I just wait until the morning I am riding then pick my attire, unless I have Bill & Janiene along to tell me what the plan is the night before. :)

I had no clue where we were going most of the time, so I wasn't sure if I needed to dress for high altitudes, like where I actually saw snow on the ground. :cold:

One thing about this next trip, I grew up in the panhandle of Texas where Palo Duro Canyon was the "place to go" for a day trip and I live 70 miles from Kerrville so I will be able to dress myself without guidance.:tumbleweed:

I sure hope they are right for once! My riding the last month or so has been seriously limited by the heat around here. Rode to lunch today and nearly burst into flames on the way home!

SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION!

Glad you survived to ride another day!

A client who has traveled to Sweetwater for hog sales for many years suggested we dine at Buck's Steaks & BBQ. He hasn't been since 2015 because he is now raising cattle only, so I checked to be sure the place is still open. On Saturday the hours are from 11AM to 10PM.:drinks:
