The Misses and I saddled up for a nice ride today and stopped to fill up the trike first, opened the fuel door and found out the the gas cap was missing. It is only then that I remember placing it on top of the pump the last time we filled up, duh!!! It had been only a few days so I went inside the station to see if anyone turned it in, they had all kinds of gas caps that were left but not ours. So off to the dealership for a nice shiny new $16.00 cap and then a fill-up before our ride. Lesson learned, place cap on foot board next time, lol.

I always take off my helmet when I fuel up. They will not turn on the pump if you have your helmet on unless you prepay. I put the cap beside it. I doubt I will for get my helmet.
I have forgot one a time or two me self.

When I first got my Trike I put the gas cap on the passenger seat when filling up because it was the only flat spot I could find. But I was afraid it might roll off or I might ride off with it still on the back seat...out of sight out of mind. So I looked around for a better spot to put the cap while filling up.

From now on I am going to put the cap upside down into the windshield vent. It fits like is is supposed to go in there, and the cap is somewhat captive. I seriously doubt that I could ride off without noticing the cap was there.

When i gas up i put the cap on the seat...That way if i sit down to drive without putting the cap back on... I'll get the message real quick.. :D

We get a lot of out of town folks. If they don't know you or your helmet is still on they just won't turm em on. Too many drive offs. It helps a lot. Remember I live in the country. Things are a lot different than in the city.
We dont have all the worry up here.

on my 13 there is just enough room for the cap between the clutch cable and the handle bar right at the lever area. My bars are Heli bars

Hahaa...wont turn on the gas pump in Alabama unless you take your helmet off?? Alabamians do get a bad rap dont they!
Could be worse. I remember pulling up to a Taco Bell drive through a couple decades ago, late at night. They wouldn't give me my food with helmet on. Was riding in winter. Also had face covered. Weasels.

I think everyone has forgotten the gas cap at least once. Coming home from work yesterday I saw a car with the filler door open, and a rag stuffed into the filler neck. Haven't seen the old rolling Molotov Cocktail in a long time. Most of the time the door gets closed and the actual cap just gets left on the pump or falls off the rear fender. (Don't ask me how I came to that conclusion. )

Been a long time since I've forgotten the gas cap...knock on wood.

But I have forgotten my helmet several times in the last year...always turned around and got it within the first 100 yards...feels so good without it, that is what reminds me to get it. :)

I have a locking gas cap on the Venture so I just leave the key in the cap until I'm finished fueling up. Can't leave without the keys or the gas cap!

Have never forgotten my gas cap. Put it upside down, threads up, right on MY seat next to my shades, gloves, & wallet. If you forget to screw it back in, you will be reminded when you mount up. What's with the removing the helmet to gas up thing??... they wanna see how ugly you are?

Better, put it on your seat. Can't miss it when you sit down.

Have been using one of these for several years. On bikes with cables you hook over as shown in the pic. For newer models they have an eyelet spring that hooks behind one of the brake housing mounting screw. Real handy. Me, I ride with an original throttle rocker so I cut a small hole in it and hang the "J" hook thru it.
