Trike MPG - What to expect?

I am averaging 32.47 for my first 1500 miles low of 27 (rider training course) and a high of 34.06
Switched to synthetic and gained .001 mpg over previous tank whoopee

I had a 2011 TG that was getting around 28 to 30 mpg running 75 mph with cat removed, Stage 1 AC, CVO mufflers and a Power Commander V (with just a down loaded tune). A couple years later I had some problems with the way it was running and had to replace the automatic compression releases and the compensator. They did a dyno tune and then I got 25 to 26 mpg at 75. I did complain to the service manager about two or three months after they did the work and they put the original down loaded tune back in the PCV. Mileage did go back up to 28 to 30. When riding two lane roads at 65 I was getting around 30 to 32 most of the time and in the Black Hills I was getting 35 to 37 there. One of the big things here in the Dakotas is the wind. Not unusual to have 15 to 25 mph winds.

Now I have a 2016 with cat removed and Vance & Hines Slash Cut mufflers and getting around 30 to 32 with mixed highway and in town driving. I really haven't had a chance to check out the mileage for just highway use yet as every tank has been a mix of driving. Yesterday a small group of us rode down to Edgeley, ND to Coach's Bar and Grill for lunch. The wind was blowing at 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 33 almost straight at us. When I left town the miles to empty showed 180 miles when we got to Edgeley which was 40 miles it read 110 miles to empty and gas gage showing 3/4 tank. Coming back with the wind I rode 30 miles before the miles to empty moved to 109 miles to empty and getting back into town and home it shows 107 miles to empty and halfway between the 3/4 full and 1/2 full mark on the gage. Might have gotten 40 mpg coming back. Wind has a lot to do with the mileage on a trike as well as the speed. Currently I have about 690 miles on it so it's not really broke in yet and hasn't been switched over to synthetic oil yet.

I have a 2015 TG and it has a Thunder Max and cams are Andrew 48 with Rush pipes and an Alley Cat breather, that being said I've not gotten much over 27.
My RPM's in 4th run about 2200 and if I go to 5th when doing 40MPH its almost lugging down.
If I'm on the road I don't see RPM's up past 2800-3000 at most.

Just not sure if its the tuner or the cams but when in town I hardly ever see 5th or 6th gears.

I have a 2016 Tri Glide all stock except for slip ons,i came off a 2012 Road Glide with a pretty hot 103 so i was used to gouging the throttle.I my millage when i first got the Tri riding two up was 32 mpg,i have since changed my riding style making my shift points at 2500 and being easy on the throttle yesterday we rode 170 miles and its still not in the red and the reserve warning has not came so i am interested to figure this next tank.

My 11 Tri-Glide.... [no cam work] With stage1- true duels/cat-less - rush slip-ons[175's] and Thunder Toques will run in 5th at 45mph and at little over 2 grand' And if i crack the throttle to pass a car it will take off and go without down shifting.... Once I'm over 55mph I'm in 6th. This Thursday i did 179 miles all two lanes in NJ-PA-NY, I don't drive fast and i don't drive slow ' I just drive and i got 38mpg..... Maybe it is your tuner or cam :Shrug:
And i might add most of that 179 miles were not flat roads.. To mention one road.. Rt 97 NY' The Hawks Nest...
 
Just a little update up the MPG we're getting on our current road trip.

'14 Tri-Glide with a Performance Plus Stage I

2-up and fully loaded with a tall recurve windshield. My experience has been that this windshield causes mpg to suffer by 1-2 mpg.

We've gotten as little as 26 mpg riding at 80 mph into a strong headwind.

We've gotten as much as 38.5 mpg riding at 65 mph in little/no wind.

All 3 fill-ups today were 36 mpg or more for the tank. We rarely went over 70 mph, mostly in the 60-68 mph range, with a small headwind.

Last 2500 miles has been an average of 34.2 mpg.

I have a '16 w/ Ness Stage 1 Big Sucker, Street Cannon's and, the factory Stage 1 download. 6" Freedom Shields recurve. Solo rider. I've noticed the sweet spot for the trike seems to be around 68. Above that and things seem to degrade. Milage being one of them.
 
Had my wife Softail with a Frankenstein kit on a 80 mile trip yesterday. Its stock motor with short shots, a free flow air cleaner, and a Power Vision tune from Fuel Moto. The MPG on the Power vision said 41.8, also I never rode over 65 MPH.
 
I took my new 16 to work, round trip 150 miles, from PA through NJ and Into NYC
when i got home I still had a 1/4 tank. I run stock header, SE Agitator AC, Rineharts 4" slip on's and stage 1 dealer down load.
