So here I am in sunny, southern CA on vacation. While I'm in church, parked in the off street church parking lot no less, some troll takes the antenna. Never again will I put a limited edition Jack In The Box antenna ball on my trike antenna. I had it double zip tied to keep it from sliding up the mast. Geeze I despise peeps like that.

You've learned an important lesson--don't go to church!!

No, for real, it just goes to show how ballsy people can be, and how much they don't care about what consequences could happen. I pack a gun, and I wouldn't be at all adverse to pulling it if somebody were skulking around my ride (if they weren't just admiring it).

BTW, I carry when I go to church, so yeah, I would've been packing heat in that situation.

Sorry you had to go through that. People are a-holes.

Well, it didn't happen to my TG, but I had the shorty off-road antenna stolen off my pickup, during the day, in my driveway... better they didn't get the two shorties I installed on my trike instead of the standard whips.

Ballsy is as ballsy does, I guess. Glad they didn't hurt anything else on your ride!

And don't stop going to churchThumbUp

I was in Ventura, CA right on the 101 following the CA mission trail as it is called. Very popular tourist/summer vacation area that draws the low life's too. Directly across the street from Mission San Buenaventura is a fairly large park that evidently draws transients. The antenna ball is the new independence ball with Jack wearing a tricot hat. Showing it at the counter gives the holder a free drink ! Duh ! I should have known better in that area. :D

I don't think it makes a difference where you are. I had mine broken off my tour trunk on main street sturgis. Then again I lived in an average area of chicago and would leave tools in the back of my pickup parked in my driveway. never lost a one.

:D Grew up in the northern burbs of Chi Town. I can remember when a pick up was a rarity. Now, they are like flies on manure.

.... Devils Advocate here...
Any chance it could have falling off, And you just notice it gone...
Nope .......... It was there when I put my mesh riding jacket and full coverage helmet into the tour pack. I had a small amount of blue locktite on the threads at the base of the threaded mounting stud. This is my third Rushmore with a tour pack so I learned very quickly with the Ultra in '14. That one did vibrate off. :AGGHH::laugh:

Secure It!

I hate to be a pain, but I have to point out the antenna will fit in the trunk. Mine is somewhat permanently curved from stowage there. It slow and troublesome, but so is dealing with the gear.

Trunk was full of gear for my 10 day x country trip. In addition to which, I shouldn't have to stow the antenna when parked !

Ain't that the truth. Shouldn't have to worry about stowing stuff like that. That's a fairly inexpensive item, and you just wouldn't expect it to get stolen. Now if it were a leather jacket or something like that, and it got left out and stolen, you would kinda have it coming. But a Jack in the box antennae ball?? C'mon!!

My curiousity got the best of me, and I googled them. You can get them on Amazon for anywhere from $5 to $30., depending on what addition it is (I would have to because the nearest Jack in the Box to me is about 2500 miles away.)

Consider where I was ......

consitter, I've no doubt that one of the numerous street people/vagrant pan handlers did it. That antenna ball is like cash in their pocket because of the food/drink discount for the month of June/July.

I'll guarantee it!!

I reckon the best way to look at it is some homeless guy or gal is able to get a free coffee or coke whenever they are thirsty. But still, the whole friggin' antenna?? That's what would really make me mad.

You can call me Scott btw. Nice to meet you.

Great to meet you too. Perp had to take the entire antenna. I had the antenna ball secured with zip ties so it couldn't be slid up and off. Not too many park bench trolls carry a dikes tool. :D
