New FP3 in the mail today

Just received an FP3 in the mail and also got an email from V&H support as to what map to download. One thing that somewhat concerned me is a disclaimer in the email that my catless headpipe may cause issues with the map and that I should not run autotune. Anyone running close to what I have and can tell me their results either good or bad? Not looking to start a bash session or "you should have bought this" thread. Just looking for honest information. Thanks

Going to ask in the other unnamed forum too, so I know some of you will see this there.

Not sure why they said not to run the auto tune feature. I have the FP3 on a 2012 TG with V&H Twin Slash Rounds, stock head pipes and stock AC with a K&N filter in it. Their maps are based on having a high-flow AC installed. I also had wrapped the muffler baffles with fiberglass. These 2 differences made it not an exact match to the recommended map so V&H tech said to definitely run the auto tune. I did and there was a noticeable difference when finished. By the way, running the auto tune takes about 3 hours of riding with a re-flash every hour and a final re-flash at the end. You will notice an improvement with each re-flash. After the final re-flash you will have a custom map listed in your map table in addition to the stock and base maps. Your FP3 will now be using the custom map.

It is a marvelous tuner.

This is not specific to the FP3.

On stock headers, that have had the cat removed, there is a possibility of cross-talk between the two O2 sensors.

This is easily remedied (at the same time the cat is removed) by putting a 1/4" weld bead around the inner circumference of the header, right at the location where the back of the cat used to be. Doing this reduces the cross-talk between the two sensors.

Aftermarket headers usually have the sensors far enough apart that there is no cross-talk.

If you want to try the auto-tune with your stock catless headers (even if no bead was put in), it is not going to hurt anything, it may give you a better tune, if it does not, you will know it and revert back to your canned tune.

The other thing that folks have done to stop the cross-talk on catless stock headers is use some TTI's. They greatly reduce reversion, which in turn will reduce the possibility of cross talk.

Thanks Kevin. One question on the TTIs. I have a set of Q258s. Would those work in the Street Cannons or do I need to get closer to the baffle size? In any case I am going to try it a while as is first. Just installed tonight and took a short ride. Not a lot of difference, but some. I needed more time to play to get an opinion.

Another question. Playing with all the sensor data . I put it on mpg and average mpg to see if those worked. Both just stayed at zero.

Is there a trick to that data showing?

Vance and Hines got back with me pretty quick and said to make sure Location services was on in my phone. I checked and it was. So I turned that service off and back on and the instant MPG came up. Average was still zero. Turned off Bluetooth and back on and both are working now. No telling how close they are though.

Might have to adjust that if I really get bored.
