I have a 2017 Freewheeler. I purchased it in CA in late June, 2017.

Rode it back to St. Louis with no issues and it only went to a local HD dealer here to have them install the factory cool flow fan last fall, as they have to program the bike to get it to work with the speedo LCD display.

My question is I have heard owners talk about their idle speed being changed by the factory/dealer.

My FW runs great in my mind, it idles at 850 RPM & I have never had it die or any other problems.

So, is my M8 different than everyone else's, or am I not hearing correctly?

Mike.. my Old Man God rest his soul would always say...Just because some don't see/have a problem is not proof that a problem doesn't exist for some...

But back to the 850 RPM Question......

Not so much the 850, At times when the engine is thoroughly warmed up, The RPM's would bounce up and down...And if it would drop just a little under the 850, The engine would stall just like shutting off a light switch ...Can the engine idle speed be changed, The EPA says no, Harley says no, The dealer says no...But some dealers can tweak it a little.....Not the idle but the bouncing...But cant tell you how [Wink-;)-Wink] because of Forums..

IE; Lose lips sink ships.....:D

The idle can be bumped up by the dealer

In most cases they want to charge us for it

With the PV tuner mine idles @ 925;)

Thanks for the response Jack, mine does not stall & never has. I am regretting asking.;) I should have left it alone. Mine moves between 840, 850 & 860 rpm, but I'm not concerned, as long as it doesn't stall. it accelerates smooth from idle & does not hesitate.

I just read your other post on this, I must have missed it.

Mike don't ever regret asking any questions, Typing on Forums and Texting ECT...

Can be very confusing/misleading..And sometimes interpreted as condescending . Because without any voice inflection anything can be misunderstood. And should not be taken too seriously , Iv'e been guilty of that once or twice in my lifetime;)

Nature of the beast.....

Mine idles @ 850 ,once it settles down.Lead Tech says there an update to map.Didnt ask for bullitin number. When I bring her in for the 1000 mile service(it's free) they will update ECM.Maybe I should leave well enough alone. And DO NOT WASH MY TRIKE!They don't have PHD level tech's do washes.Water everywhere.Another reason I won't let bikini girls (or guys-puke) wash my bike.
