Help Analyzing Quotes

So please help to educate the rookie, and newest Tri Glide lover. I'm trying to compare apples to apples when looking at quotes as I get ready to buy this week. I'm lucky to have probably close to 15 dealerships within 2 hours of me so I'm getting quotes from as many of them as possible. Some offer after purchase deals such as X number of free oil changes, or X gas fills, or your first service at 500 miles, etc. My main question is the value of "free tires for life" as long as all scheduled service is performed by that dealership.

They say they will provide one free set per year for tires that are worn down below 3/32. So, what is an average cost for a set of tires for the Tri Glide? How many miles do you typically get on a set of tires? And is 3/32 remaining tread reasonable for motorcycle tires or should they be replaced much sooner than that? If I can get some ballpark answers to these questions, I can sort of put a perceived value on this offer when comparing to the offers from other dealers. Thanks for any help!!!

the only tire you will wear the most is the front and that should be around 20k miles.. Rears a whole lot longer wear life..

I agree, At 36 thousand miles now [2011 Tri] Rear tires like new... Im on my second front tire now... But thats getting close.:Shrug: I would try to get them to not charge for the Transpiration and set up fees that alone is about a grand, And then at least another grand off list. .... But more in inportion is to make sure your comfortable with the dealer you buy your Trike from...

I just got a 16 Free Wheeler from Space Coast HD in Palm Bay. Best prices I ever saw with no hassles. I just called them and gave them the best price I got which was very good. They beat it by $1000. They had about 18-20 Free's and TG's.

Getting the front tire replaced would be at about 10 to 15k depending on how much you ride that might be once a year. It is worth about 250 including labor and not getting a deal if you were paying for it. Now that won't cost the dealer that much because his cost is alot less. I would suggest the best deal is the one that will save you the most up front. Throwing in extra that may be used in the future is nice but sometimes they don't get used and therefor did not help in the deal from your end. A add on is only good if it something that you were going to get or need all ready.

Great tips and points from everyone. Thank you so much! I agree 100% about trusting who you buy from. I have bought a lot of cars over the years from only 2-3 different guys because they proved to me I could trust them in the beginning. And I'm sure motorcycles are no different. And I learned quickly how Gorilla and many others feel about Space Coast, and for good reason. And while some after purchase offers are difficult to put a value on like the tires (and oh by the way, it's only the tire, not the installation or additional parts and fees), some of the offers such as including the first service are more tangible because I now I'll need that soon but would also require me to go back to that dealer even if they are not very close or convenient. Now it's just a matter of adding all the numbers, then finding the one with the most reasonable price from the guy I trust the most. I've always believed the most successful sales transactions are based more on relationships and less on price. But if I can get both, that's even better!

if you get all the scheduled services done by the dealer they should give you a new bike every year for free for what those services will cost you. Buy a manual and do the services yourself it will save you thousands of dollars over the course of a year. If you don't have any knowledge to do the services go to any high school or trade school and sign up for a course on basic maintenance

I picked my 2016 Vivid Black up 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it. It has been 20 years since I had a bike and getting on this one was like I never stopped riding. Except for the third wheel and the fact I do not have to put my feet down when I stop.. The best part is the Boss(wife) loves it also. Now if the pollen would subside and her allergies not get so bad she would love it even more. I have been looking for about a year and finally decided it was time to pull the trigger.

I did a lot of research and some negotiating. I walk out the door at 40 even with the extended warranty, wheel & tire and scheduled service. Plus all the other crap you have to pay for. Tax title tags license etc. I could have gotten it for 1k less, but the travel to the dealer was not worth it to me. Developing a repoire with the local shop was important. I have some plans to add air brushing to it that is why I wanted black. This was my last toy before retirement so I wanted something with longevity. No regrets here, just enjoying the open road and the luxurious ride.

Sounds like the pretty standard "best deal" from what I can tell around here. I got 7 quotes. The best ones were very close to that (slightly lower and higher), the not so good ones were about $4000 more, and the worst one was about $6000 more. Then it comes down to location, convenience, service, and personalities.
