Hello from Canada

Hi there,
I am from Canada and I own a 2008 Stallion that I purchased from the towing compound that rescued it from the ditch.
I am looking to get about $5000. in fiberglass repairs from the accident it was in before I bought it.
The man that rode it, was found to be speeding around a highway corner that was renowned for it's danger.
He rolled this trike and a trailer he was pulling, but after looking at the pictures of the accident, it looked like the trailer hitch was not a swivel hitch and I believe that was another reason why it rolled.
Do any Stallion riders know of any danger like that with this trike?
My husband is very nervous about it and is OK with the fact that I can't insure it for the road in Canada but I really want to put the money into the cosmetics, as it runs beautifully.
If anyone has any advise about riding the Stallion ie. dangers, I would really appreciate it... V

Hi and welcome to TrikeTalk! Stallions are extremely stable, so it had to take exceptionally aggressive riding to roll it like this. Perhaps cornering well over the speed limit, over correcting with steering and braking. If the trailer began to whip or sway.... All speculation, I know. But following safe speed and driving guidelines, this would not likely happen without outside force.

Welcome V. Good luck with the Stallion. I can't believe it can't be insured up there. Being a production trike, as opposed to home built. You may want to check around for different non-weasely insurance companies. At the very least, it would be good transport to that great mall you have up there. Just going around parking lot qualifies as a long distance ride.:qpnmt:

Welcome to Trike Talk from SE Missouri . I pull a trailer with my Stallion when we are out on long trips. I think it would be very hard if you have any experience at all pulling a trailer to flip the stallion. With that said, any vehicle can be flipped if you push it beyond it's limits. If you get into a position where your trailer starts swaying with you, you are riding way to fast. Pulling a trailer is like anything else practice practice practice. I don't think a swivel hitch makes any difference at all with the Stallion. It not like you are on a two wheeler and have the lean and the trailer stays level.

Welcome to TT. Best wishes on the "restoration" of your Stallion. I don't understand the insurance issues in Canada. As someone else mentioned, it was factory build by a "major" manufacturer and not a home made "kit". How did the last guy have it insured or was it "visiting" from the U.S.? I'm guessing that in order to register it and get license plates, isn't the vehicle required to have insurance? IF Stallions can't be insured, why buy it to restore? Just asking - not trying to be "cute".

thanks all for your greetings and info. yes it was an American visiting from Texas that rolled the machine and i was not aware of the rules in Canada until i got it home and tried to insure it. we just saw it advertised and my husband and i just thought it would make riding a lot easier on me, as i am a little physically handicapped.

my husband could make a trike over the weekend and insure it for the road but a production bike isn't allowed??? ridiculous!!!

and i try to avoid THAT MALL with every fiber of my being...well, except for the dessert crepes.. and i approach that from the outside.
so, if you know anyone looking to buy an inexpensive Stallion, where they can put their own stamp on it for paint scheme, just let them know about mine please?

i have to get it out from under my nose, as i am dying to drive it further than down the back alley.

it is too depressing
