Harley Steering Damper

Has anyone out there installed a steering damper on their trike? I have 1999 FLHT that I converted to trike last year, read someplace that harley p/n 83808-09 would fit 96 & newer bikes. I m having problems with the damper body hitting the top of the LH fork tube, I have not raked the front end yet, is that why I have the interference problem?

I have a steering damper but it is not installed the way HD puts them on a Tri glide. I will try to post a pic of it later. It works without hitting anything.

Here's my setup. Not sure of the make as it was on the trike when I bought it. I believe it may of been purchased through Lehman Trikes.

Thanks pigbike, I have the HD set-up, but I may have to use one like u have, but am gonna hope I get a answer from someone, on the HD damper!
