GoodMorning,

I have caught the same disease that I get about this time every year. I have a 2013 TG along with a 2013 Limited and I do not have a heat issue with either one. My issue is an 'I want' and not an 'I need' one. I do like the Silver and Black TG color scheme.

Question: From those that have moved from a 2013 or recent year to a 2016.. Now that you have some miles behind you, was it a great decision or do you miss some thing/s about your previous TG? Is there anything that is a 'must have' about your 2016 choice?

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Jim

I went from a '12 to a '15. I did basically the same performance mods to both so the performance factor for me is the same. The '15 may be just a bit cooler because of the water heads, but not enough for the $$$. I liked the simpler radio on the '12 and I'm not really into the Infotainment thing. The single biggest thing I appreciate on the '15 is the new improved frontend and the linked brakes.

I had a '13 and went to a '15 (same as the '16)

Smartest move I ever made. The list goes on and on as far as the differences.

Yah, do it and don't even look back.

Thank you for your response, is there anything that stands out?

I luv gadgets so the Infotainment Center is appealing. I feel the same way about your assessment of the front end. Thank you for your response!

The parking brake is better located, and there is an indicator on the dash when it is on, and it is easier to use.
The brakes themselves - the rear brake rotors are bigger. The front and rear brakes are linked together. It stops a lot better than the 13 did.
The tour pack looks smaller, but is actually larger cubic inches inside
The front fender is smaller
'15 has the high output engine, a little more poop to it
Infotainment center is fantastic with all the stuff it does - including built in navigation.
You can use a USB stick or phone to listen to your music, etc.
There is a little storage compartment for your USB or phone
Cruise control is easier to use
All the hand controls are easier to use
One thing I did not like - it did not come with a CB - I had to buy that separate
The wet heads do tend to make it run cooler.
LED lights - most everything is LED including the headlights. Taillights/turn signals are still incandescent, we added BriteAss lights for taillights.

I've probably forgotten some stuff. Hope this helps

I went from an '11 (basically the same as a '13) to a '14 (basically the same as a '16).

I was perfectly happy with the '11, but was offered too good a deal to pass up.

After almost 2 years with the '14 I can say it was a very good move.

Here is a thread where I have documented the differences-

http://www.triketalk.com/forum/thre...-lots-of-pics-and-thoughts-on-the-differences

A few that stick out after 2 years:

The 2016 has:

More Power
Better front forks
Infotainment center with GPS & easy use of digital music via a flash drive
Usable parking brake
Better hand controls
Less cluttered wiring (due to the CanBUS)
Linked brakes, which I don't like, but most people do seem to prefer it

Happy decision making!

Kevin

These were some good and thought out answers and I thank you for each of them. After crawling over a 2016 this past weekend, I believe that I will wait for a white one. No, I don't have any info on a white TG, just thinking that HD is overdue for that color. Plus I am due for a change, with the exception of a '93 FXR all 11 of my Harleys have been black dust catchers.

'13 to 15 was good for me.

Beside the items already mentioned, I really like the gear indicator, LED Lighting, sound of stock mufflers. Not sure I can feel any noticeable difference in linked braking probably because of my dual braking riding style. Also like the larger gauges. Have lots of aftermarket LED lighting but will eventually change Taillights. HD should have done this years ago. "Under-engineering with a purpose"?

2016 advantages

I went from a 10 to a 16, so my list is probably a bit longer. the gearing was very noticeable but you already have that upgrade. E brake is much better and the over all brake system is much improved. I like the new radio but still kicks my butt at times. like above, the heat factor might be a bit better but still got rid of the cat. The Rushmore Bikes do not have the CB installed.with the navigation system on the 16, the CB may not be as important but for the price of the motorcycle should have been included. very happy with the 16 up to now.

I liked the simpler radio on the '12 and I'm not really into the Infotainment thing.

The Infotainment thing Is IMO one of the biggest Improvement, most are not technical and just shut it off, then you have those that are very knowledgeable on how to use It.
It's a virtual command center and using voice command is a hoot, there's just no comparison on anything previous to Rushmore.

The M8's are out and there are several changes on the bike, everything but the Infotainment, there was no need to change that.
