Hello again all,

I have a 2000 Valkyrie Trike and my question is in regards to getting a more "throaty" sound from the exhaust, I'm not trying to wake the dead, but I am trying to be heard! My question is kinda a two part question

1.) Should I just remove the "packing" and the baffles from the stock exhaust?

Or

2.) should I upgrade the pipes and if so what is the recommendations of the wonderful people here in this message board?

Some trike companies change the muffler when converted.Does it have the Honda mufflers or what the conversion company supplied?

I haven't had a Valk but had a standard 1500.Mine had a Champion kit.I think a 2013 model. They used Bassani mufflers that had a unique sound to them. Kinda like a Porsche. There were a few aftermarket exhausts available for the 2 wheel Valks back in the day but I imagine any exhaust for one is hard to come by now. My guess is that the conversion company has mufflers other than stock on it and exhaust for a Valk won't fit. Pics might be helpful.Do you know what conversion you have?

Sorry I just did what I should have done before rambling.Nice trike by the way.It does appear to be the stock exhaust. If you can find an aftermarket exhaust that clears everything and thats what you want go for it. Be mindful about cutting on yours. If you don't like the sound stock ones as good as yours appear may be hard to find. It's been 20+ years since that bike was made and stuff like that probably isn't offered new by anyone.

To be honest because of the age and that bike/trike have been out of production since 2000 I would leave it alone and enjoy the ride. As Marc said parts will be hard to locate.

I would not alter the internals of the mufflers at all

The mufflers internals ( maybe to quiet for you) are there to provide not only a sound check but also serves to keep the exhaust reversion in check

The reversion @ the correct level is needed not only for complete exhaust removal of the spent gas but also to keep the decibel level correct

When the Valkyrie came out people couldn't leave the exhaust alone. And with six carburetors they seldom ran right after that. A good friend of mine would see the muffers changed on one them and say you'll never never know how good that bike could've run.
