The 2009-2015 and possibly 2016 have the same rear axle housings and axles, so theoretically the 2014 improved brake system should easily be adapted to the 2009-2013 Tri Glide.
PARTS NEEDED:
41300025 Caliper $399.00
41300026 Caliper $399.00
41500031 Rotor(s) $190.00 each
41300033 Brake Pad Kit $93.00
That is over $1000.00 in just parts (retail), but my research on disc brake upgrades concludes that just about every combination of calipers and rotors tips a similar scale and the aftermarket can't guarantee them to fit. So, if you are unhappy with the pedal pressure and stopping ability of the rear brakes on the 2009-2013 Tri Glide, it will cost you at least a GRAND to upgrade.
You can also link the rear brakes to the front brake on the 2009-2013 Tri glide to give you even better stopping power.
You can find Ford rotors to fit on the axles cheap enough. You can find calipers to fit the rotors with built in parking brake, but you would have to fabricate the caliper bracket to attach to the rear axle properly. Basic Mustang kits run $600.00 up to $1100.00 but there is no guarantee they would fit the axle.
If you are thinking about rear brake mods, keep in mind to stay close to the same capacity of total piston volume if you change the caliper.
The rotor that is on the newer '14-'16ym is larger than the older trikes. This larger rotor will give some better leverage to slow the rotation of the wheel.
If you can come up with a caliper like a 4 piston or better yet 6 piston with a total piston volume of the stock caliper, it will give you a lot more pad area to go against the rotor.
You don't have to stay with Harley parts, but you do need to keep parts that are readily available. If you go with a radial mounted caliper an adapter can be made fairly easy for the mount. I understand there is a Yamaha front caliper that works fine. It is a slight bit larger volume, but not by much. This would cause the peddle to travel slightly further.
Still working on the parts list.
