I have a vance hines tuner I took off my 2011 roadglide. my tri glide already has reinharts 3.5 slip on mufflers and still has stock header with the cat and air cleaner. my question is can I install the tuner and hi flow air cleaner with the cat still in the header pipe? I like the way its sounds now and just want to get it to run a little cooler and a little less lean. I know I can decat it but I don't want it any louder than it is. thanks in advance from calif.

You can install the hi-flow kit and but the tuner is a different question. You didn't indicate what year your trike is but if a '14-'15 think you're going to have to get one of the new digital tuners. You need to jump on the V&H website and put in the particulars for your bike. A tuner will not have any effect on the sound but you're restricting the performance of the tuner with the cats still in it.

already have the correct tuner and the hi flow air cleaner. being in calif. I can no longer purchase header pipes without cats. I can cut the cats out of theses pipes. but was just wondering if I can install this tuner to help with the lean condition and just leave the cats in. don't really care about getting more power or performance, just want to help with getting the engine to run a bit cooler.

It is No problem to run a HiFlow A/C & slip-ons and a tuner with your headers that still have the cat in them.

Just don't try over-enriching it to cool it down, it won't work, plus if too much unburnt fuel flows thru the cat it will cause problems.

But a normal tune will be fine with the cat.

btw, removing the cat has very little affect on raising the dB of the exhaust...it will be a bit lower tone, but I don't think it raises the volume by even 1 dB.
