Conversion has began

I am old school when it comes to final sanding for paint.I still wet sand. Its not done much any more, every one dry sands.I did get all the wet sanding done and it is ready for paint.

I still think wet sanding is the way to go too. What color is it going? All black or black and silver? Is your bike metallic black?

My bike is metallic black, So I am going with that.I have thought about doing the two tone with the silver, but have decided I'm going stick with one color.

After sealer is applied there is 1hr wait ,then the base coat can be applied

I got the paint applied yesterday. Not the best I have done but certainly not the worst I have done.A little sanding and buffing to do.pics will be on there way.

Man you do good work Clint! The body looks great!

Thanks,Its not perfect, but will do for now.The paint is still to green to buff. That will have to wait a few more days.I use to use a additive called supercharger,it would cure the paint in 6 hrs.not sure if that's availibale any more.I didn't realize until my brother and I were talking ,it's been over 5 years since I painted anything.I hope to have it all together tomorrow.

Very impressive. I am a pretty good mechanic but no good at all on any kind of paint work. Looks great and can't wait to see the finished product.

When I put the left tail light in the body I had a problem with the lower left bolt. There was not enough room for the nut the thread on,so I took a die grinder and cut away some of the fiberglass to make room

I have a few things to finish up but it is nearly done. Its not been washed up yet.

When is the maiden voyage Clint?
Not sure ,but getting close,I have a few things to do yet,Maybe a days work,Rake kit, carpet kit, adjust latch and get the release working, door seal, extra fuel tank fill and vent lines need hooked to the fill spout on fender, need to buff the paint and clean the whole bike up.These things could go fast or could be a fight to get right.

I started putting the rake kit on tonight, but did not get it done.Thing just were not going well,so I stopped on it and will try again tomorrow evening.

I started on the rake kit after work and things were not going to well.I have the new triple tree installed and the shock tube assembly installed in the triple tree. With things not going well that's where I stopped for the night.Sometimes I just have to stop and come back to it later and everything seems good again.

Things went much better this evening.I did stop before it was complete, but not much left to do,just the Tupperware around the instrument cluster ,front fender, and seat .Should finish it tomorrow evening.

Clint,

What a treat to have you document your build with such good pictures and detailed descriptions. It really makes one appreciate the level of work involved in the conversion process and it looks like you are doing a fantastic job. We thank you again for choosing Roadsmith and are looking forward to completed pictures soon.

Best of luck on the home stretch!
